First reported screenshots of iTunes 9 emerge; Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm integration showcased

Now before we get into these screen caps our disclaimer must be made explicitly clear: This is superduperultramegaturbo rumor/skeptical status. Right then. A German blogger claims to have dug up a hand full of iTunes 9 screenshots while sifting through a Chinese Apple forum. Yeah, we know — did you not read our disclaimer? For those of you who are late to the party, we exclusively scooped a handful of features said to be coming to the next version of iTunes and then followed up this morning with some tasty new info. Should these screenshots be authentic, they definitely firm up several of the items we listed including Last.fm integration and some kind of integration with Facebook and Twitter as shown in the first screenshot below (social playlists?). Hit the jump for the rest of the shots and a bigger version of the image above.

They might as well just put Safari in it instead of attaching it to every update download. I’ve probably removed Safari 10 times (kids). Let’s make it a bigger piece of crap.

    Fake? Because of the shadow?
    You´re pretty stupid.
You know there´s a freaking checkbox option to take out the shadow, right?

On my screen, I can see a faint yet obvious square around the 9 in the first pic.

And someone on BusinessWeek reported this as fact? Sad.

    FAKE!!!
Damn these people are good with the photoshop but sadly it is a fake.
    A real good fake though.
I don’t know if you have not noticed, but in the picture with the ‘About iTunes’ window, look at the font. The number, ‘9′ is much larger that the iTunes font size.
Now I am not saying that Apple will not implement these features in iTunes 9. But what I can tell you is that that image has some serious discrepancy- I can’t see if there is anymore but that is definitely one red herring.
    It will be nice though.
For reference, launch iTunes and check the about iTunes submenu. The ‘8′ and the ‘T’ in iTunes are of the same vertical height.
    Anything else anyone can spot?

    FAILED … 0/10 for ingenuity

    1. The iTunes 9 appears fake .. i. the 9 is a different font, too large and as bold as the iTunes text. ii. The rolling text on the about page is consistent with itunes8

    2. the Social playlist is just a normal playlist created & named social. Apple would have created a special icon for such playlists to differentiate it from regular playlists as per the itunes dj and genius icons immediately above.

    3. the last.fm icon etc is obviously photoshopped in (it’s in bold rather than the non bold other items; orange icon on the blue background shows signs of a grey/white border, it is also misaligned (it’s more horizontal than the icons above), and the last.fm is placed slightly to the right of the other names in that column without allowing for kerning

not to mention in the about iTunes screen no shadow on the window and also look there is no smoothing on the top edge of the box that is supposed to be rounded. You can see fragments of white hard corner, bad C&P job there… LAZY!

open up your last.fm client and play a song.

note the big red last.fm logo in the lower right corner.

note the similarities with regard to layout, fonts, etc

note the deliberate absence of that corner of the white last.fm area in the screenshot.

this fake was so appallingly bad that i had to prove that it could’ve been done better…

Last.fm button looks faked. It doens’t have the same styling as the a regular button, nor when the menu is active.

I’d like to see this actually happen, because it would save me having to have a seperate process for Last.FM but this screenshot is obviously fake, because there is a white background visible on the corners of the Last.FM logo, Apple would never let a piece of software get out with a design faux pas like that!
