Apple launching iPhone 3GS 8GB soon?

We’ve had a number of unconfirmed tips over the last few days about this so we figured we’d post it… apparently it seems that Rogers in Canada is in the process of shipping iPhone 3GS 8GB flavor handsets to stores. Again, unconfirmed, no idea on pricing (we have no clue where to start on that) but we felt it was newsworthy to at least let you guys know what we’re hearing. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Maybe the iPhone 3G stock is finally sold out and Apple will quietly (or not quietly) replace the $99 model iPhone with an 8GB 3GS?
UPDATE: Added screenshots. Definitely looks legit to us! One more shot after the breakage.
Thanks, sneaky tipsters!

Would it have been too much to ask for screenshots that actually show the entire contents of the screen? As it stands, relevant information is missing from these screenshots because whoever took them must have figured “complete sentences are overrated.”
Dumb Ass. You have 30 days to return it.
Quit your bitching.
For people who don’t care about space…this is going to be fine. Not to mention that people will be all over a better camera with video for $99. Better question is why wouldn’t you do it if you never had a smartphone before?

This is great and all, but I would wait for new model next year. Iphone 3GS does not have many upgrades…
I am not spending 199 dollars every year for apple. Iphone 3GS is still missing features that I want.
1. OLED screen
2. Different design… This iphone design has been used for too long. Time for refresh. Ipod mini to ipod nano, remember? It’s time to refresh the look
3. Front camera for ichat…? It is time. If AT&T’s lousy network cannot support it, then bring it to other carriers who can support it.
4. Even faster processor for a snappy performance on flash support that apple will most likely going to bring on iphone 4.0.
What shortage of the 8gbs are there?
Wonder where the heck you work?
Also the 3gs are in stock in wirelesswave locations throughout canada.
happy hunting
@Mikee,
Fuck you idiot my comments are worthwhile you don’t like it don’t read it biatch

this first popped up last week on rogers (internal)hardware upgrade page… it listed both an 8gb 3g alongside the 8gb 3gs…
as for comments about exchanging within 30 days… rogers is 15 days as of july 19th…
theres not a major shortage of 3g… i just seen another shipement of 10 today… but the quantities are way down to what they were 2 weeks ago
Something goes real and something goes fake. When it is coming? There is no expected date mentioned above? What about its functionality? Need some more information about it to believe on that.
Too bad I already have the 16 gb 3GS. Lol

Why not combine the pictures to make it easier? Crude attempt here:

Very nice to here. Though I did not here ever get a chance to buy one.
Hope to buy one.!
Agree!
I hope that if this lands in the states, they let the people who bought the $99 3g get a cheaper upgrade.
Who cares, I just want a new bigger better faster iphone and dang it I want it now hehehee
I feel bad for all the people that paid 99 dollars for the 8gb 3g iPhone and are past the 30 days return policy.

I’m in Turkey.waiting for 3G S.cause it’ll come august ‘09. and I’ll buy iPhone 3G S 32 GB !! what do you think about 3G S ??
Its interesting that they would do this (although i’m not complaining). My store has been receiving regular 3g’s loaded with 3.0, so its not like they were just selling off pre-existing inventory. It would be sweet if there would be a 3gs for 99 bucks though.
I work for Rogers and I was just doing a Hardware upgrade to a Cx and I saw “Iphone 3GS 8GB” on the system for $150 for that cx. Just letting you guys know
Maybe a smaller HD would allow room for a bigger battery? I’m waiting to see.
Get over it; it’s not happening. Be more creative with headlines.
Give it up. Apple has no business case to make an 8 GB 3GS.
Oh, come on. I know how everyone says it’s a horrible and pointless thing, but it’s bound to happen. The same thing happened with MP3 players (which eventually became MP4 and MPEG players). I know, it doesn’t sound that big but it’s a step towards the right direction, which is having more capacity on your iPhone. A lot of people use it for more than listening to music or watching videos (although I might put that at 5% of the userbase, if that). 8GB means I can store a small library of e-books on my iPhone 3GS.
You’re going to be waiting for at least for two to three years. Sprint gets 4G first, Verizon probably gets the iPhone next. Their 4G isn’t for another few years.
@Roger A:
S in 3Gs stands for shut the fuck up, tool.
its better than iphone3g…with fast browsing,video recording…
