BlackBerry 9700 specifications

While we don’t have a sexy codename for this BlackBerry to attach to the model number, our very same ninja is back again with a list of specifications for this unseen and unnamed device that will launch as the BlackBerry 9700. Ready?

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • UMTS/HSDPA
  • 480×360 resolution display
  • Wi-Fi a,b,g
  • OS 5.0
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • 3.2 megapixel AF camera
  • Bluetooth

We know, we know, specs on paper are one thing — we’re working on getting more information, don’t worry.

UPDATE: And… the BlackBerry 9700 is the new model number for the BlackBerry Onyx. That’s why the specs are identical. Makes sense!

    Those are the exact specs of the Onyx, aside from OS5. Nothing to see here.

    Hmm…this points to a possibility that the rumored “Atlas” (CDMA Tour with wifi) might be a 9730 or 9750.

    just got a Tour yesterday and now I’m obsolete. :) Gotta be a record.

    It would be nice to know if it will have the UMA chipset.

    @steveG,
    Dude, I know you can read. If you go back 3 posts you will see 8530 for verizon WITH wifi. Think it may be time to find something else to trash verizon for now. What happened, they wouldn’t give you a contract??

    Back on topic, my guess is that this may be the t-mo 3G berry.

    Hopefully the reason we didn’t get the RAM and Processor is because it’s a 1 Ghz processor and 8 Gigs of on board memory…..and of course included in the box will be the 2 TB micro SD card.

    @Kyle,

    where’s the innovation. Pretty much all the “smartphones” can do pretty much the same thing. HTC, Apple, and RIM all have had the same form factor forever. I agree with Palm and the web OS.

    What about GPS?? When features are spoken of on new devices this is a feature that is often left out and some have them and some don’t. GPS on a Blackberry is an absolute deal breaker for me!

    Clint says:

    And this phone is different than any other RIM phone. I suggest you minimized web page space by just listing the new phone designation, then list a previous phone with the same specs, but add the new operating system. Like so….

    model xxxx annouced by RIM
    same as model yyyy from 2007
    New features are OS 5.x.xxx & an optic touchpad

    so much easier. hopefully RIM actually innovates soon or they will need to be bought out.

    I’m just a Canadian commenting on the inability of RIM to innovate enough to actually stay on top of the competition. sigh…..

    Looks silly however I like and want those specs!!! With those specs you could replace your desktop/laptop with this phone. Too bad no wireless HDMI w/HD-DTS audio support!

    I am curious how they managed to shrink the nuclear power plant to power this thing.
