BlackBerry 9700 specifications

While we don’t have a sexy codename for this BlackBerry to attach to the model number, our very same ninja is back again with a list of specifications for this unseen and unnamed device that will launch as the BlackBerry 9700. Ready?
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- UMTS/HSDPA
- 480×360 resolution display
- Wi-Fi a,b,g
- OS 5.0
- QWERTY keyboard
- 3.2 megapixel AF camera
- Bluetooth
We know, we know, specs on paper are one thing — we’re working on getting more information, don’t worry.
UPDATE: And… the BlackBerry 9700 is the new model number for the BlackBerry Onyx. That’s why the specs are identical. Makes sense!

Can’t wait for the Blackberry 90210
– they increase the RAM and fit more Drama
Those are the exact specs of the Onyx, aside from OS5. Nothing to see here.
Hmm…this points to a possibility that the rumored “Atlas” (CDMA Tour with wifi) might be a 9730 or 9750.
just got a Tour yesterday and now I’m obsolete.
Gotta be a record.
It would be nice to know if it will have the UMA chipset.
sounds like every other blackberry.
but i get a feeling this is the magnum
We all know this isn’t going to Verizon since there is no wifi.

CDMA ends in xx30 or xx50.
@steveG,
Dude, I know you can read. If you go back 3 posts you will see 8530 for verizon WITH wifi. Think it may be time to find something else to trash verizon for now. What happened, they wouldn’t give you a contract??
Back on topic, my guess is that this may be the t-mo 3G berry.
*yaaawn*

@ 1adonis1, who said, “which phone maker is innovating right now?”
Answer: Palm, HTC, Apple
GOOOD JOB BLACKBERRY, U GUYS CEASE TO AMAZE ME. JUST WAT EVERYBODY WANTS, ANOTHER RE-HASHED, HALF-ASS PHONE THAT DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING UR LAST 5 PHONES ARE CAPABLE OF DOIN. ITS GETTIN PRETTY SAD AT THIS POINT. INSTEAD OF DROPPIN THE SAME S#$& EVERY OTHA MONTH, HOW BOUT U GUYS DESIGN A MODERN DAY OS.
Hopefully the reason we didn’t get the RAM and Processor is because it’s a 1 Ghz processor and 8 Gigs of on board memory…..and of course included in the box will be the 2 TB micro SD card.
@Kyle,
where’s the innovation. Pretty much all the “smartphones” can do pretty much the same thing. HTC, Apple, and RIM all have had the same form factor forever. I agree with Palm and the web OS.

What about GPS?? When features are spoken of on new devices this is a feature that is often left out and some have them and some don’t. GPS on a Blackberry is an absolute deal breaker for me!
And this phone is different than any other RIM phone. I suggest you minimized web page space by just listing the new phone designation, then list a previous phone with the same specs, but add the new operating system. Like so….
model xxxx annouced by RIM
same as model yyyy from 2007
New features are OS 5.x.xxx & an optic touchpad
so much easier. hopefully RIM actually innovates soon or they will need to be bought out.
I’m just a Canadian commenting on the inability of RIM to innovate enough to actually stay on top of the competition. sigh…..
Blackberry’s !
Rumored 9900-Phoenix
1ghz Tegra Processor

First Carrier-Verizon followed by T-Mobile. 2010.
David thande your rumor is silly
Where is the T-Mobile 3G capable Blackberry?
grrr
David
Looks silly however I like and want those specs!!! With those specs you could replace your desktop/laptop with this phone. Too bad no wireless HDMI w/HD-DTS audio support!
I am curious how they managed to shrink the nuclear power plant to power this thing.
HAHAHA you all crack me up!
Stop using a Blackberry if you’re not satisfied or make your own!
You are all the stereotypical “it doesn’t wipe my ass, boohoo” crowd!

You know, I have to admire you. I don’t think there is anyone else that continues to prove their ignorance with as much self-confidence as you do.
^too funny! Also true.
@ el hefe
If this 9700 doesn’t have a webkit based browser capable of running HTML5 based webapps, then someone at RIM needs to be fired.
How much longer must customers put up with re-hashed garbage?
