Samsung Omnia Pro gets fondled, Omnia 2 gets less appealing

While Samsung fans on this side of the world ogle the Omnia 2, our Asian brothers and sisters across the globe are already eying bigger and better things. Ahhh, the Omnia Pro B7610. GSMArena managed to get its mitts on a Pro and the site most definitely took it for a spin. The form is solid, the AMOLED display is nuts and the TouchWiz UI continues to get sexier and sexier — though you’re still left high and dry in areas beyond TouchWiz’s reach. Since it’s all about the extensive six-page ride, we’ll go ahead and spoil the ending for you: The reviewer says the phone rocks but won’t sell as well as the HTC Touch Pro2. Hmm. Ok, specs time:

Why is it that they always show the weather app on these WM phones? Is that the coolest looking thing on there?

I’m not sure why the TP2 is supposed to sell better than that, but I’m assuming it comes down to TouchFlo vs. TouchWiz.

Better camera, more built-in storage, better processor… the hardware certainly shits on what HTC has.

Frankly, I prefer that one over the TP2 because I prefer a dedicated camera button to a dedicated zoom function. I just don’t zoom that much. Doesn’t it also even have a better damn battery than the TP2 does?

If there existed a universe where TouchFlo could be flashed onto that phone, wouldn’t that be the best of all worlds? I don’t have the fetish for speakerphone that the TP2 thinks I do.

Oh well. Who wants to have the perfect phone, anyway?

Wow that thing is a beast.
I would get it except to me it looks like sprint’s HTC mogul.

It is a beautiful phone though.

The reason the phone won’t outsell the TP2 is because HTC phones have dominated windows devices, plus, this phone looks just like the TP2. The TP2 is already out by the way. I also believe it will depend on the carrier. If the Omnia is picked up by AT&t and t-mobile, it would be a killer device. Competing with the TP2 is least of Samsung’s concerns. BlackBerry is the company that every is chasing and having difficulty catching.

The first manufacturer to release a capacitive WinMo devise will be the biggest winner. After all, so many of us holding off the phone upgrade so that we can get a decent device.

@ toursux: What’s wrong with you that you don’t like physical keyboards? You like getting finger prints & finger oils on your screen, and constantly be wiping it off?

Sell this phone with 850/1900/2100 bands unlocked and I’ll buy it. Love the specs. If the camera is any good, I’d prefer it to the TP2.

The Omnia 2 is far superior to the HTC Touch Pro 2 in many respects, including the super sharp display, real time processor speed, capacity, better camera and video.
