Having used both network with blackberry 8820 (att) and 8830 (VZW), and att with an iphone, I must say NEITHER has speed to crow about. As far as reliability goes, On att, I would drop calls an average of times a day when traveling (bus/car/train) along major corridors, using VZW, I can only count twice in 1 year that I have ever dropped a call and VZW DOES has much improved coverage in remote areas (albeit not necessarily 3g. My own non-scientific consumer based test has shown Verizon to have a far more reliable network that att.

I have the iphone and live north of Memphis, not only do I not get the 3G from ATT, but hardly any signal at all…..although ATT’s coverage maps show I should get them all!!!

Thanks for info on capture it. Not sure if I can post the screenshot through my windows mobile profile, but I’m giving it a try. Using a BlackBerry Storm in NJ about an hour from NY and 45 minutes north of Philly. Have never seen 3G ever pop up on my phone no matter where I’ve gone.

I haven’t ran an official speed test on verizon since I switched out from a blackberry storm and an LG dare after ALMOST 3 YEARS of TERRIBLE service to AT&T. I’d only get one bar where I live, but if you walk about 10 minutes east or west of my house, you get service that over distance increases to full service and I’m positive this includes 3G and everything, it’s funny how I’m the only verizon customer on my road too because a while ago verizon had no service where we live, then they increased the service so everyone on my road can get service except me which just kinda tells you that verizon probably hated me, I was their only customer on my Road and reported the problem 5 times and they did research and said that where I was it was a “known trouble area” they basically told me also that they’d get to fixing the problem when they wanted to, which was also pretty rude, not only that, but I got a $700.00+ charge for Internet use on the blackberry storm when I had the UNLIMITED blackberry data plan, they said it was usage that wasn’t covered by a data plan and other stuff that made no sense, they knew it was a mistake but refused to acknowledge it or even help me out with paying it. That was the bottom line for me so I switched to AT&T whith whom I get full service on an iPhone 3G, this runs at around 250 kbps at most on edge and 412 on 3G (according to the average on my testing) also, they encountered a small problem with service, where I’d lose service at times, the problem got fixed 3 days after I reported it and when I first switched my bill was high, I called in for them to help me and give me options on paying it, they gave me a $200.00 credit so I payed $90.00 on my bill, sweet deal if you ask me. I pretty much had a traumatizing experience with verizon, and a FANTASTIC with AT&T, customer service and cellular service is awesome so I’m sticking with AT&T for a while. Verizon…I’m sorry but they suck, that’s just me though, being it on my experience. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to let you know what I’ve experienced
