BlackBerry 8520 events, IOUs and Transformers

Remember those BlackBerry At The Movies events happening in practically every major city in the country? Well, they’re definitely for the BlackBerry 8520. One our readers was nice enough to send in some photos of what they received at the event and was one of the few people who actually won a BlackBerry 8520. No, they didn’t receive the device then and there. Instead, they’re being shipped out in the mail. But the BlackBerry 8520 was shown on a presentation which was quickly followed by the movie Transformers 2. Nice touch, RIM.
Thanks, ACon!

Sweet. Not too shabby RIM.
Is that SocialScope at the bottom of that BlackBerry Applications page?
I’d like a free Berry even if its this 3 year old tech. Does it have GPS?
why yes that certainly looks like socialscope to me. good catch.
I WANT IT
Nice! Transformers 2 was a great idea, since the trackball is finally transforming into an optical pad
I just want to see when the Onyx is coming out. This Curve doesn’t even measure up to the current 8900. I hope they don’t ask more than $99 with 2 yr contract for this, because I don’t know many people will buy this over the 8900. I am anxious to find out how the optical trackpad fairs though.
Even though this BB isn’t my style, I think T-Mobile should market it as a prepaid offering further differentiating itself from the other large carriers.
Price it right and it’ll sell well.
I too am waiting for TMo to drop the Driftwood/Onyx.
Hope the 8520 is better than Transformers 2, sheesh.
nice!!
Trackpad nice
Yup, that is indeed SocialScope. They previewed a few apps that are soon-to-be released in BlackBerry App World.
I wouldn’t mind this phone as a supplemental backup to my 8900, plus I do want to check out the new optical trackpad. However I’m still waiting for a T-Mobile 3G-supported Blackberry.
I won one at the Houston location lastnight. The phone has to be mailed to you. Im not complaining, its a free phone. Even know I drove from clear lake in circles looking for the place, that come to find out i knew where it was, and 3gps (2 blackberrys and 1 garmin) sent me in 3 different wrong directions.

The 8520 clearly isn’t intended to be an upgrade for 8900 users, thats what the onyx is for, this one is so RIM have something new to sell to all those people still using the original curve models.
hahah i went to the blackberry night at the movies and i won the blackberry!! yay go me
