Nokia 6760 slide (AT&T Surge) slips onto the scene

We know, Europeans, we know. Despite the fact that you typically get your hands on sexy new Nokia handsets well before we do, the recent announcement of the AT&T-bound Nokia Surge made you insane with jealousy. How could your precious Nokia drop such a gem in the US and ignore Europe completely? Well you can stop plotting your hostile takeover of Espoo now as Nokia has just announced the 6760 slide. The specs are nearly identical to the US version and it still has a face only a mother could love. Also, just to keep you feeling special, the 6760 slide will rock a 3.2 megapixel camera as opposed to the paltry 2 megapixel shooter in AT&T’s Surge. Not surprisingly, Nokia is billing the 6760 slide as a social networking phone and will surely continue to drop the word “Twitter” and variants thereof like its life, or handset, depended on it. In all seriousness though, this puppy is definitely a sold tween messenger that can be had on the cheap — definitely worth a look for the young’n in your life. The 6760 slide will be available in various markets around the world some time this quarter for 199 before subsidies.

    Att would be no.4 if not lower of all US carriers if the iPhone didn’t exist. Proof in the above article.

    @StevenGlansburg,

    Where does it say that in this article? And ATT would still be in head of sprint and tmo with out the iPhone.

    ^^^^^ don’t think so… The man has a point. At&t would probably be 3… The iphone is what keeping att were its @. Once att/apple contract is over & the iphone get release to other carriers att is gonna lose a lot of folks. Just wait & watch!

    Probably what would happen when the att/apple contract is up is that everyone will be starting all over with their network because of the LTE switch. From what I understand it is easier to convert a GSM network to an LTE one than CDMA. If that is true then ATT will probably pass VZW in network coverage as far as 4G is concerned. No source just what I’ve read around the internets

    @warhed,

    The Pre hasn’t exactly racked up a lot of new customers and neither has the G1. I’d be willing to bet att would still be #2. They were #1 before the iPhone and #1 before vzw bought alltel.

    what are you talking about? ATT is making bank right now how are they failing? i have no problem with my att service and i have an iPhone 3G, if they were failing y is att the #2 US carrier? (it would be number 1 if verizon hadnt bought altell)

    OMG… The unlocked version gets a 3.2 MP cam? AT&T, you are so utterly full of fail!

    The truly sad part is that this device requires the $30 PDA plan if you want a data plan on it, uber ghey! This device will fail because of this, plain and simple. Be able to attach family data($10) or the individual data($15) and this would be a good deal for what it can do. No one can say that Symbian is not a extremely powerful and versatile OS.

    Jarred where do you get that this phone is a PDA?

    Jarred says:

    That’s the feature that has to be attached. AT&T systems will not allow any other data plan to be added.

    Pleease….AT&T and Verizon will always hold the 1&2 spots…Sprint cant get their act together, TMobile will take anyone with bad credit…and the rest are just small timers. Even without the iPhone…AT&T has a far superior network than most…even if average phones…do you want a super cool phone on a network that sometimes works or a reliable phone on a reliable network…GLOBALLY!
