Video reveals TELUS HTC Touch Pro2 with 3.5mm audio jack
Sometimes it takes a little while for everyone to get with the times but better late than never, we say. The still unreleased HTC Touch Pro2 for Telus will be featuring, amongst a host of other awesome specs, a 3.5mm headphone jack (ditching the USB one that came with an adapter) as revealed by an early video review. Hopefully this will be a new and permanent trend for all future HTC devices. The touchscreen/QWERTY hybrid will also be home to Windows Mobile 6.1 with HTC’s famous TouchFlo 3D UI, a 3.2 megapixel shooter, Wi-Fi and a pivoting screen much like the AT&T Tilt of yesteryear. This is definitely a worthy successor to the original Touch Pro/Fuze, so if you’re in the market for a new device on TELUS you might not want to pass this one up. Hit the jump for the video reviews.

So, when’s Bell getting it ?

Pay Attention Sprint…I want a new phone
wow this was one of two reason why no to buy a touch pro 2 and the other one was windows mobile (i dont see that happening so :s)
they left the battery door alone! why couldn’t sprint/tmo do the same?
Anyone know when this is coming to AT&T?

cellphones dont have doors you mean battery cover
well, 3.5mm is pretty cool, but since times are changing and people are a-changing, i still think stereo bt is the way to go. granted, they aren’t as awesome as having some of the crazy 3.5mm headsets out there and a lot of bt headsets aren’t so awesome with the noise-cancellation stuff, but i think wireless is cooler than a 3.5mm hole in your phone. i mean, just my opinion. you’re entitled to yours so don’t tell me i’m dumb because really, i’m stupid, not dumb (don’t know the diff? look it up).
Maybe im one of the few that actually thinks that the Battery Cover on the Sprint Touch Pro 2 is kinda cool. Verizon Would Cut performance and leave the cover plain..Sprint would leave performance alone and change the cover hmmm….decisions
OK Sprunt the Tour has been a debacle…Please don’t screw up the TP2 release. And make it snappy would ya?
I heard that phone blows iphones without a condom behind that crappy 7/11 over off MLK Bridge. Seriously, any of you other bros hear that? Anyone want a Zima? I have plenty of Jolly Ranchers!!
J/K,
and LOL
SteveJ
Zimas and jolly ranchers. 7-11. People blowing each other w/o condoms. Are you in Texas? lol
^^^^^
Lmao!!! Funny! I’m debating on the tp2 & the bb tour? On vzw. I had a bad experience with an all touch screen. But the tp2 is a kick a$$ phone!!
sprint will never get this out on time just like the BB Tour and they will screw up on the inventory just like the pre or the tour. I expect this to be out in November.
I saw a picture of the Verizon one and it had this too.
ok ppl this is what I think well happen for US carriers: TP2 well come out on all major carriers. Tmo will get it in aug ATT well get it around late sept to mid oct(Im not sure because Att is all so getting the Android version of the original TP known as Lancaster, the dates can’t conflict). Sprint well also get it in oct and verizon late oct till around Christmas with metro PCS and Alltel getting theirs at the same time as Verizon. please comment if you disagree.
HTC is incredibly good at making good hardware. However, I believe their marketing department has made a couple very bad decisions. Obviously, HTC has been very slow to offer a phone with either a large screen or a 3.5mm jack. In fact, HTC has chosen to stick with that scrawny 2.8″ screen and the lame mini-usb jack for far too long. I can just imaging the R&D meetings: “To keepa phona small as possible, no large screen and no 3.5mm jacka.”
I am glad that after over two years of customer complaints about the jack and screen size (not to mention getting killed by the I-Phone sales that should have been theirs), they have finally decided to make a phone that makes sense.
While I’m bitching (and I hope someone from HTC reads this), why in the hell doesn’t HTC start putting the 850/1900/2100 3G bands in their unlocked Models? They did this until the Touch Pro 2 and then they stopped. I liked buying the unbranded phones that would work on just about any network in the U.S. and Europe.
I feel that HTC has been pressured from AT&T to stop selling unlocked phones that will work on the AT&T network. This needs to be looked into by the FCC.
I totally agree with the previous post. And if you want to take action and force congress and the FCC to force carriers to open their networks and stop crippling devices read this:
There is a legitimate, well organized, movement underway to force the USA wireless carriers to open their networks, and stop crippling phones. It is being run by the same folks fighting for net neutrality. Please show your support and spread the word.

well is tmobile getting a 3.5 mm jack with its touch pro 2?
If this is upgradeable to the Sense UI….its copped.
Actually…
The phone is a world phone with what is appearing to be 850-1900 bands and CDMA. I know you are talking about unlocked phones however (unlocked GSMs?)
Salty Dawg:
Thanks for th links, I’ll join the effort and see if I can help. Everyone should be upset about this but few are, or at least don’t complain.
I want the Sense UI also but regardless as soon as this phone is released I will be ordering it!!!
htc almost has a perfect phone! Now lets change that screen to capacitive, give it a 5mp autofocus camera, and replace the mute button on the back with a camera flash and we might have a winner
Yes, BT stereo is the way of the future, not audio ports with cables running to one’s head.
I have been using BT stereo since I got my Pearl way back. The the Curve and now the G1.
I am spoiled. I will never go back to a corded headset, stereo or non.
I thought people knew this, so I will post in here.
1. A CSR at T-Mo confirmed that the one goes on sale in the U. S. on August 12.
2. The U. S. version will not have a web cam (the camera in the front).
3. It will, of course, be a 3G phone.
4. Will have Windows Mobile 6.1, but 6.5 is ready to roll out and the TP2 will be upgraded for free.
5. The U. S. version will NOT have a 3.5 audio port.
6. If you want to wait, T-Mo will be introducing a phone similar in look and function to the TP2, but it will be an Android based phone. It will replace the G1, which by Sept-Oct. will be an outdated phone. It may be called the G2, or the G1 V2.
It will look something like the MyTouch/iPhone, meaning the entire front is a display, with a full, large slider keyboard like the TP2.
A T-MO employee told me that it is slated for debut in the “4th quarter” (meaning in time for the holidays, when all carriers like to introduce new phones, for gift giving). T-Mo is especially known for doing this, recall the Pearl and Curve coming out for the holiday season.
So if you like the Android OS and concept (I love it and love my G1), want something up-to-date that’s not the G1, and like the large display (like the iPhone and MyTouch) you may want to hold off until September-October.
Sidenote: As to the camera having a flash to make the phone perfect, IMHO a camera flash on a cell phone camera is about as useful as having a zoom feature, meaning I can do without either.
I have found a cell flash is not bright enough, does not work well with cheap cell phone cameras and make pics look lousy. Perhaps HTC knows this and that’s why they don’t put a flash on their phones.
For me the perfect phone does not have a flash. LOL. Perfection truly is in the mind of the thinker.
