LG’s first Android handset believed to be the GW620 Eve
It isn’t exactly a secret that LG has at least a few Android handsets in the works. We must admit however, we’re still pretty excited to learn that the GW620 Eve may be the first LG device to run Android if only because it means an official unveiling might not be too far off. The evidence to support this claim is a handset profile for the phone that references the Android browser. Specs are still very much up in the air as the handset is not yet official, but as it stands we’re looking at an HVGA touchscreen display, full-QWERTY keypad, Wi-Fi and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. In other words, it’s pretty much the same as every other Android handset coming down the pipe.

Sweet…
I wonder’s who’ll be carrying this bit*h?
*sigh* I just want an android phone with no keypad…is that too much to ask?
Well, hopefully LG is a little more daring in their processor selection.
What’s with all the HVGA res screens? Is there a reason why they can’t go to a VGA or WVGA screen like all the WinMo phones?
@Bob
Yes, because Android doesn’t officially support anything over 480×320 yet. Higher res support will arrive in the next OS release (Donut). Late summer/fall.
Can’t come soon enough.
@MiSoFine: Its not too much to ask. There are a number of android phones coming out without a physical QWERTY on them. I’ve seen a couple of people complain that all the android phones are going that direction now that cupcake came out. There seems like there is going to be a good balance between QWERTY and QWERTY-less android phones
@Bob: There was a rumor that it only supported HVGA from a software point but thats not the case. The Rachael is higher resolution. Its probably just that for now they’re trying to keep the phones at a lower price point. I imagine as it opens up more you’ll see the higher resolutions.
Ex-wife’s nickname was Donut. My current wife’s ex-husband is a cop. Weird donut irony…in a bad way.
Uh, it’s called the HTC Magic and it’s already out in the UK. Will be out on T-Mobile in two weeks as the MyTouch3g…
@tande
the rachel wont launch until donut time.. afaik cupcake doesnt support anything above hvga
@Joe the Plumber: See I’ve heard different things. For one cupcake was supposed to open up more resolutions. I don’t know for sure. I googled around when I first saw some talking about a limit in the resolution and every android developer forum, message board, etc says that there is no set limitation.
My guess would be that either At&t or T-Mobile carry this phone
@PJW
You’re right, Donut can’t come fast enough.
I’ve got my eyes on Hero right now, but if I’m going full-touchscreen, I think I want a bigger screen w/ better resolution and Donut is needed for that. So I’ll be waiting until then to make the leap. And Rachael looks goooooood.
@MiSoFine
have you forgotten the magic or as t-mobile calls it the mytouch3g. and i know you haven’t forgotten the hero, which in my opinion is the most impressive handset to date. period. so take your pic.
LG has the worst build quality of any of the large manufacturers. Don’t plan on any of their products lasting a year. This goes for all of their products.
I will still be waiting on the Tungsten…why can’t anyone find out any info on this big boy? I really hope it runs android..
It has wifi. Not coming to verizon, thats for sure.

@jw
Totally agree. LG phones are crap.
An interesting development: LG and Motorola both plan their future with Android. Seems like competition is growing stronger between Iphone and Android.
