Is this the LG BL40 Chocolate? If not, it should be

It looks as if we no longer have to wait on LG to complete a slow and painful unveiling of its brand new Black Label series phone — if this is the real deal, of course. A very convincing promotional video popped up on YouTube that, if genuine, not only gives us our first shots of the device but also details the majority of its specs. As expected, the BL40 appears to be a very formidable phone with features that include a 4-inch 345×800 capacitive touchscreen display (note the very unusual 21:9 aspect ratio) under scratch resistant glass, 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, 7.2Mbps UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, aGPS and the what appears to be a suped up S Class UI. While we feel it necessary to again stress that this video is in no way official yet and could certainly be a farce, we would love nothing more than to see this puppy materialize. Hit the jump to check out the video.

    That is definitely legit. I don’t see anyone putting that much effort into creating false hype; maybe Photoshoppped pics but a video requires a lot of work.

    But yea, that’s an ugly phone, I mean it would be nice to have a 4″ touchscreen but you are going to be holding a psp size phone!

    It seemed to have an identical keyboard as the IPhone. I’d find that questionable.

    if only the software ran like it does in the demo videos. It’s probably really laggy and slow unless it (hopefully) runs on tegra or snapdragon. looks pretty decent though, but s-class ui is trash.

    Anyone else think it’s funny that they used U2’s “Salome” b-side for music?

    @Apbtlvr,

    Um, are not all QWERTY keyboards identical? After all it’s what’s known as a “standard” ;)

    i dont think thats fake. that would take waaaay to long to edit. too bad, its a nice phone but if it lands stateside it will be on verizon and they will ruin it with their stupid ass software. i feel like verizon is the only thing holding lg back from being a real innovator in the cell phone game. their phones are nice but it doesnt matter if the ui is shitty ass verizon’s.

    @gadgetchic

    Agreed. Their crap UI could ruin anything. Perhaps another reason why Apple decided to give the big middle finger to VZW in the first place? VZW has great service and all, but to monopolize the UI as they have done is a shame. They’ve killed so many phones that could be great without it.

    Why does everyone say this is headed to VZW?

    Ok, obviously this phone isn’t. Its a GSM phone, so lets get that out of the way right now. Second, lets look at the other “black label” phones. There was a version of the chocolate that went to VZW and then the Shine ended up at AT&T.

    Thats 50-50 so far (I don’t think the Secret has a NA version yet but the rumors point to AT&T for that one too).
