Nokia 3720 classic gets official
That rumored imminent announcement has come sooner rather than later as Nokia has made the rugged 3720 classic official today. The press release was light on the specifications but did confirm that the 3720 classic will be IP54 certified for water, dust and shock, and will feature an Integrated LED flashlight, 2.2-inch display, 2 megapixel camera with flash, microSD card slot (ships with 1GB card installed) and extended battery life. The Nokia 3720 will be available later this summer in a variety of colors for an expected retail cost of €125 ($174 USD) before subsidies or taxes. Will it blend?

Ugly.
Most likely will be popular in the Taxi Cab community.
If it has BlueTooth, and can play music, It would be popular as a waterproof phone.
This is good for people in the construction or wildlife preservation industries. An iPhone or N97 wouldn’t be suitable to those environments.
And the lucky (-wink) carrier would be???
Ugly my a**. This thing looks beautiful. I wouldn’t get it, but it’s still beautiful.
Awesome phone for 1998
I’m seriously thinking about snagging one–said as an owner of an original launch Iphone.
I’ve come to realize that all I need are: a phone & AP news reader. I’ve grown tired of destroying my hearing and am burned out on being connected all the time. Surprises are great and so is the lower stress level.
the phone doesn’t really look too bad. The design kind of actually fits its purpose for tough environments.
>>I’ve come to realize that all I need are: a phone…
I have to agree – the best phone I had, that was just a phone, was the Nokia 6340i:

Now, I have a BlackBerry Bold, which I love, but do I really need Facebook, email, web, news, a camera, etc., all the time?
This phone is going to surepass iPhone in a heartbeat as far as sales are concerned. Lol. I don’t know this but if nokia does what it usually does the best in India all the people will get it and the stupidest selling point will be waterproof. Just like apple bitching about its appstore here.
@marK, @michael
Loved my Nokia 8260…would still have it today if it didn’t burn up…something happened either with the battery or the insides…and it was toast. Getting back to simple….I believe that we will see a rise in that again….enough convergence already. Do one thing and do it well, and I wouldn’t mind having to carry a few items that were totally awesome at what they did.
No Kelly it wont blend lol. As someone said in the video blog post of this phone.
This looks fine to me. My wife fried her 5300 XpressMusic just by putting it down on a wet countertop. This might be a nice replacement if it comes to America.
I just wish Nokia would get rid of the 2.5mm Audio jacks across the board. Or at least put out a decent set of 2.5 mm headphones.
I want this phone. But cannot find it. The rep I chatted with online knew nothing about it. Said it was probably discontinued. It just came out! They don’t even know their own product line…scary! If anyone knows how I can get ahold of this model, let me know at this link
@ robyn,
This device was just announced. The reps can’t have found out about it yet. It’ll be awhile before we get a chance to buy it. Maybe a couple months, easy.
