New images of Sony Ericsson Rachael and Kiki surface along with a Rachael UI video

Heads up SE fans! A tipster just dropped us a lead on some new shots (and a video) of the mouth watering Sony Ericsson Rachael and the plant watering Sony Ericsson Kiki — which means were dropping them on you. We last heard about these two handsets late last week and since then we have to be honest… The Rachael has been on our minds non stop. Android, Snapdragon, 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and 3D graphics capabilities? Yeah we need it. As for the Kiki, mmm, it’s unique. Hit the jump for the new renderings along with a video supposedly depicting SE’s own UI sitting atop the Android-powered Rachael. We’re not going to lie — it’s pretty sexy.

Thanks, Funky!

Can’t wait for someone to compare the HTC Sense to the SE Android UI. Keeping my fingers crossed the SE has 850/1900 3G bands on it. I’d love to have a choice of nice Android phones.

Wow 2H 2009 is shaping up to be a hot one for Android. HTC, now SE, nxt MOTO. Looks like the sleeping gaint that is Android is starting wake.

This is going to give all other platforms a serious run for their money. I am a loyal BB user but after seeing the sense UI, I’m holding out for a Hero

Looks promising. But knowing SE, I’m not likely to get one because of no microSD support.

I will be replacing that keyboard with the HTC Hero keyboard. And call it a day. Whatever this comes out on…I will be going to that Carrier. No thoughts about it!

I have to say that I’m not a huge fan of all the animated interfaces that have been coming out lately. They are beautiful without a doubt, but I’m thinking spending so much time waiting for your menu to come up will get old, fast. Unless there’s an option for turning transitions off, count me out.

@enyo: It’s probably a placeholder. I don’t think this UI is ready for primetime yet, they’re probably just putting everything in place in the meantime. Of course, it could also be fake. Until SE confirms or denies it, it’s just speculation.

    @ JakeZ

You have a valid point for phones that don’t have the processing speed to keep up with it, however, if it’s the snapdragon like it is spec’d to have, it will NO DOUBT do it smoothly. If you do not believe this, search the snapdragon processor chip and you’ll find out. It’s 1ghz while all others, including the new iPhone are around 500-800 mghz maximally tweaked – seriously… it will have NO problem with the transitions. If this gets some American Love which I am PRAYING FOR, it will no doubt destroy any interface out there today

@estrouse: Isn’t that the inherent SE flaw though? Sure this will destroy any interface out there today, will it do the same 2 years from now when Sony actually releases it in limited areas?

Xpera, Idou, etc Sony Erricson is getting to be pure vaporware.

Man, Sony Ericsson’s are always released on AT&T. So although the phone is gorgeous, AT&T will strip it down and fill it with AT&T specific apps. And also force you to buy Ringtones from them. lol

SE also releases on T-Mobile also.
So there’s a SMALL chance it could hit them…especially seeing that T-Mobile is Android capitol of the US right now.

I’m just wishing Sony Ericsson comes up with a Windows Mobile version of this baby. Especially with a sliding qwerty keyboard.

this is a cool phone, no doubt about it. BUT, SE can’t release a phone in a timely manner, so if you aren’t willing to wait until 2015, forget it.

Wow! Some of the Android UIs being developed by HTC, Lenovo & SE look great! I’m curious if Motorola will put a spin on their UI as well.

It’s cool that Android allows smartphone vendors to create their own user experience, while still maintaining Android app compatibility. That certainly makes the life of app developers easier.

Two new XPERIAs? One with Android (Rachael) and the second with no OS (Kiki)? Sony Ericsson make XPERIA series a bit chaotic. Somewhere was rumored that Rachael will be X5, what number will have Kiki in this case? Maybe X4… and then there is question, what will be XPERIA X3 :) One model is missing (or unknown).

    What you think?
