O2, Movistar to have exclusive rights to the Palm Pre in Europe

It wasn’t exactly a surprise but it looks like there’s finally some good news to report for Pre hopefuls across the pond. That news: O2 and Movistar have been announced as the exclusive European carriers for the Palm Pre. To be available in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain before the year is through, pretty much no other specific information was given as to when or for how much the device would retail for in each market. Those of you who might be interested in importing a GSM Pre take note — the specific UMTS/HSDPA bands that it will be packing have not yet been listed so keep those fingers crossed.

The pre is great phone. Apple and palm will be battlin for years to come.
Just think about what the successor to the pre will be come june 2010. Then what will apple release in june 2010. Rim and windows mobile will be in big ass trouble once more webos devices become available on everycarrier.

Interesting – does this mean 02 will not renew the iphone exclusivity deal it has ? – i think its due to end in the next 6 to 12 months.

Looks like Palm had to wheel-n-deal to get their device(s) sold – going exclusive sure isn’t good for them.

Looks like a lot of GSM people will be happy that they can unlock the Pre and use it on their GSM carriers of choice.

Can anyone say T-Mobile Unlimited Loyalty Plan…?

I bet it will cost more to get an European version that would only be EDGE here, just get a fully equipped Sprint that will save you money and get nav
