CONS:

1) BAD BATTERY LIFE. unacceptably short. The battery dies before my day is done. I did not have this problem with the Curve.

2) NO WIFI.

3) Mouse Ball is too close to the key board and I accidentally brush it when typing which moves the cursor around in the message, causing me to re-write portions of almost every text, BBM and email.

4) Screen view jumps around in emails that are html based. Curve did not have this problem.

5) Many models have hardware and software issues with mouse ball control rendering the horizontal function unusable. Many people have had to return their Tour for new ones. Verizon is aware of this.

PROS:

1) SIM CARD feature allows users to insert SIM cards from local phone companies when traveling abroad.

Very interesting articles. Has anyone bought the Tour in the last few weeks? Is the tour a great phone to use. This will be my very first blackberry & i want it to last a long time. Do you need to update it every day? Also about how long does the battery last?

Thank you for your very insightful review.

I was under the impression that one could utilize Java based Opera as a Browser, also that you could read/write MS Word, read PDF and that lastly, Flash is in the pipes.

I was seriously contemplating my first RIM, the Tour on Sprint,unless the above listed functions/options are wrong.
I would very much appreciate a clarification.

When I called back, I was expecting them to have me ship back the pearl and tell me that the tour will ship when it’s supposed to. Instead, everyone made up stories – and I hate being lied to.

You know, this isn’t the first time Verizon’s done this… they rely too heavily on their customer service team to pick up the slack. I’ve been with them going on 10 years, and in that time:

- Twice, my plan has MYSTERIOUSLY jumped from xx to another plan double the price. Once I didn’t catch it until 4 months later because of autopay – and when called on it, they offered to refund 2 of those months.
- Many, many times, The insurance on the phones has been added/removed according to their convenience. Once, I explicitly said NO INSURANCE when I got an upgrade.. The rep kept insisting on it, so I wrote in big letters on the contract that I signed “NO INSURANCE.” When the bill came… it was on there.
- Once, I did have insurance and I even had my previous month’s bill next to me when I called because my phone broke. They told me that “for some reason, it hasn’t registered your insurance for months, sorry.”

Either way… I’m fed up with verizon and at this point, I’m not staying because I like them, it’s because the others are much worse.

I plan on sending a big long email to some people high up in the Verizon Wireless world to stir up some trouble. I figure – if they can screw with me, why let them get away?

crap aside, i really feel for ya, omar. lets see if we can get this woman to pay for that nastiness. this shouldn’t be happening @ VZW, these horror stories used to be a trade mark of cingular.

Here’s some news–Storm 2 still uses a clickscreen. However, the screen is not “wobbly” anymore–in fact you can’t even see it move when you press it. It’s a much shorter “press” with faster down-up action, and therefore much faster to type on.

Some Aries news–it might have wi-fi, like the Storm 2. Too early to tell?

I would have paid to see the look on your face when you opened that box. That must have really sucked, sorry buddy.

My New Every Two kicks in at the beginning of August and up until a month ago I was completely sold on the Tour. It would have been my first real smartphone (currently rocking the old enV) and my first BlackBerry. I was stoked. Right now, I’m hesitant to get this phone.

I honestly think I’m leaning toward just snagging an Ozone or waiting for the Touch Pro2. Windows Mobile isn’t my first choice of mobile OS, but it’s definitely ahead of BlackBerry OS. Also, the fact that they both have WiFi is a big plus.

Damn RIM and their refusal to modernize their OS.

She went ahead and placed the order, said it was only $149.99 – $70 rebate – $100 New Every Two = Free. I thought she made a mistake of some sort, so I went with it.

The package that came today had a PEARL flip! WTF!I called VZW and no one can get their stories straight. First they said the tour was shipped, then she said they have no record of a Pearl even being shipped, existing on the account, then the SKU on the order is for a tour… then that he can’t order another tour.

After going back and forth, i got a supervisor who was the nastiest woman on the planet. I swear, she came on the line with the intention NOT to try to help.

The excuse at the end was, they can’t place another pre-order because I have a discount on my plan from my company. She first said no one knew that discounted plans were not eligible, then when I questioned that logic, she said, it’s been in your employee discount agreement.

In the end guys, it was all for naught, she was a total pain in the ass and only ended up getting me angry.

Now… what to do about this pearl flip that apparently there’s no record of!?!?
