Verizon has a change of heart, prepares to open BlackBerry Tour pre-orders to all
Following our post yesterday and the ensuing outcry, it looks like Verizon had a change of heart where BlackBerry Tour pre-orders are concerned. Are you a current Verizon Wireless subscriber whose spirits were crushed upon learning that pre-orders were only open to new customers? Fret not, future Tour addicts, as Verizon’s site is singing a different tune this morning. From the 9630 product page:
Existing customers will be able to upgrade or purchase the BlackBerry Tour on this site very soon. Please check back with us tomorrow.
Solid.
Thanks, Ben!

Just talked to a rep on the phone who acknowledged the problems with pre-orders and corporate discounts – said it was a glitch. He took down my order info and said I will get a call back this Friday with the terms and to collect payment, and my order will go through then. Should ship Monday… Progress is definitely being made.
I have a government discount, and was told via email that I wasn’t eligilbe to pre-order the Tour because of the discount. A computer glitch was never mentioned.
I replied and mentioned that nowhere on the site does it state that anyone receiving a discount would not be able to pre-order.
