Sprint says no pre-orders for BlackBerry Tour

Following the Verizon Tour pre-order debacle and subsequent redemption, it looks like Sprint is a bit more firm in its position. Sorry Sprint folks, but it looks like you’ll have to hit up your local Sprint store or telesales on the day of release if you plan on grabbing a 9630. Twitter user @srdoherty, who is the manager of social media and interactive communications at Sprint, answered a query from a Sprint user confirming the inability to pre-order a Tour. Anyone put off by the lack of advanced ordering? As highly anticipated as the Tour is, we’re pretty sure it won’t cause quite the rush seen when the Pre launched so hopefully inventory shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Thanks, Roger A!

The Tour is the same old same old BB. Boring snoozefest and the build quality of all BBs has become abysmal since the Curve and Pearl. 8800 durable too. Bold, horror show. 8900 cheap, flimsy and tinny. The Tour will be an uber popular device but I wouldn’t get it. There is not much difference between it and the older generation 8 series.
JakeyBoy – lets keep the personal comments and questions in my blog, you can contact me there.
- To the people who work at Sprint on this forum… I think its time that Sprint LISTEN HARDER to their customers, AS WELL AS LOOK AT OTHER COMPETITORS and be the leader they once were in doing things FIRST.
This means – PRE ORDERS FOR PHONES!!!
Honestly, why are people bitching and moaning that they cant pre order a Tour??
Telesales generally has phones in stock to order a couple days before the official date and whats the problem with going into a store and picking one up? If they didnt make the Pre available for Pre Order why would they do so for the Tour. Yes people want this phone, but its not that serious.
Roger, its all good. just showing you that bgr outed your personal info in a way. i don’t think i would have been as good about it as you. good luck on your blogging.
Well…
I have to say, I maintain a CL (corporate liable) account with Sprint and I have already pre-ordered units and have received confirmation.
Maybe there is a difference between IL & CL
All I know is….I am getting my shipment
@ JakeyBoy I know Roger personally and asked for his permission before putting up his Twitter info.
what the hell Sprint!!!!!!!!! If anyone is going to sign up for the damn Tour they’ll go to Verizon.
@Matt – I actually had considered leaving Sprint, and I still might. As a Premier customer, I feel loyalty should best be rewarded with the ability to actually “hear” about the phones (like they claim SP Customers do) and “preorder” the phones that are coming.
At the end of the day, I have to really think “Is Satan In RED worth another deposit, cost of a new phone, and horrible customer issues with an over priced plan”
@JakeyBoy – Marc and I are close friends, so anything he “outed” of mine on BGR is totally acceptable in the name of tech…Beside I know ya’ll were gonna wanna hear it from someone at Sprint themselves that they dropped yet another ball.
I truly dont get what the big deal is about pre-ordering the phone i mean just go down to the store. If you dont wanna go down to the store just make sure you call tele-sales early on the 12th and order one. Anyone saying they will leave Sprint and go to Verizon just because of a pre order senario is absolutely rediculous. To go to Verizon and pay more a month and have less features on your devices is pretty stupid.
when I decide to upgrade (actually just buy outright) I’ld much rather have a pre…Oh by the way, my sprint “dumbphone” is waaay faster data wise than my BB on aT&T.
twitter is fine. maybe Roger just let a little TMI when it came to himself in his many bgr comments. i’m sure he wouldn’t exactly want everyone to know where he lived and such…thats all. Hey, while i’ve got your attention Marc, have Zach run his facts and a spell check before he posts…would you please?
jake… i like attention. Everyone knows I lived in San Jose, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.. even the people that are in organizations I protest that hate me know where I live. Hahaha
Twitter, blog, its all the same. Even people I know who hate me, know where Ive lived.
And yes, I really would leave one company to go to another, because there is a difference between LOYALTY being EARNED and rewarded, and INSTANT GRATIFICATION…
Principal
what is the big deal i live in dubai and i saw the blackberry tour today its very lame small and annoying
I’m with Roger A, Sprint ought to adopt something like the NE2 vzw does and and an advance notice for us 8-10 year subs but other than that I’m fine.
Any word on the price of the tour if u just wanna buy it off contract??
How much is the tour gna cost off contract?!?
can give two sh*ts about BB. bring on HTC touch pro2 or HTC Hero. thank god im smart enough to make my own technical decisions and have the service i love and have zero problem with. oh, plus i can wait for better things.
Of course they won’t preorder this! God forbid a failing company does something to anticipate the possibilities of higher sales margins…. Kind of like what they did before the PrÄ“!
…oh,wait…
Get it together Sprint, seriously!

sprint was WAY BETTER Data plans then anybody else….Verizon has these old plans that keep you IN DAYTIME MIN..thats why my friends use my phone at work cuz they have know i have it all for one low price..and SPRINT TV IS WAYYY BETTER,Unlimited txt, unlimited Nav,radio,Email,Talk,….Compare ATT…Verizon you will see….and they really have emproved there customer service….SPRINT ROCKS….AND NFL LIVE YEAH BABY
oh my, My identity ohhh no!
Roger who are these orginazations that you protest? Are you going to P.A. to protest the G-20 summit? We could toss some moltov cocktails together if ya want!
I might want this myself but it’s just the same as all previous iterations
Why don’t Spring users just admit they won’t go to Verizon because they can’t afford it, they have significantly reduced the amount of crippling if not stopped it all together so that excuse is getting old. Its not cheap because its not cheap to have the amount of coverage that they have, and maybe Sprint should raise their prices considering they needed bail out money, just a thought. I’ve had experience with all except AT&T and Verizon has the best service no doubt about it, and thats all I care about because I need to make CALLS.
Now back on topic, it is ridiculous that you can’t pre order but I don’t think its worth leaving your carrier over unless you have another reason along with that.
Correction *Sprint* But to the people who just came on here and started bashin Sprint is ridiculous. I’m only talking to the people who directly starting bashing Verizon.
