Sprint says no pre-orders for BlackBerry Tour

Following the Verizon Tour pre-order debacle and subsequent redemption, it looks like Sprint is a bit more firm in its position. Sorry Sprint folks, but it looks like you’ll have to hit up your local Sprint store or telesales on the day of release if you plan on grabbing a 9630. Twitter user @srdoherty, who is the manager of social media and interactive communications at Sprint, answered a query from a Sprint user confirming the inability to pre-order a Tour. Anyone put off by the lack of advanced ordering? As highly anticipated as the Tour is, we’re pretty sure it won’t cause quite the rush seen when the Pre launched so hopefully inventory shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Thanks, Roger A!

    The original tweet announcing the Tour said “available via online and telesales”. Have you gotten confirmation that the phone will be available in stores yet?

    They just figured with their horrible network that there is no need to pre-order.

    I’m beginning to despise the fact that Twitter has become a reliable source for breaking news. Maybe soon we’ll hear about the Odin via Facebook status.

    I absolutely love Sprint haters lol. Yes your going to love your provider but that doesnt mean you have to hate on Sprint. And if your a Verizon user, i hope your still happy being ripped off for dumbdowned devices. As for AT&T can anyone say what a joke there service is. Sprint in many markets blows everyone elses service away especially on data so when you can come up with substantial facts then make a comment. Well onto the actual news, i dont mind no pre-orders being open. Just go down to your local store on the 12th and try and pick one up.

    I’m not put off. As long as I can order one on Sunday, or even Monday, and not have it out of stock like my Curve had been, I’ll be ok.

    One thing to think of, though. The Curve was out of stock for a while. Hope this doesn’t happen here.

    We’ll see. But as long as I get one, i’ll be happy.

    Don’t forget, if you do have to wait a bit, at least you can see what everybody says before jumping in, no? But I’m sure this is going to be one hell of a phone.

    ^^^^Exactly sprint4life, i always tend to wait at least a month or so before buying a new device. Its always good for any issues to get flushed out this way you dont get a defective unit. The last thing id want to deal with is being all happy to get the phone and then having to go through a swap and what not. But if your one who wants to jump for it on release date then more power to ya and yes the Tour is going to be an amazing device. I dont use wi-fi all that much but i would have loved to see it included to use with my mi-fi.

    @Justin Cauchon

    You are correct – the Tour will only be available online via sprint.com and through Telesales (1-800-Sprint1) to start. In-store sales will be announced at a later date.

    yea my touch pro will stop getting 2.5mbps downloads cuz its performance doesnt match the peanut gallery.. and while sprint is goin strong in the recession it will disappear any day now not get investors like palm, have a reorganizing bk like gm, or get bought out like wamu.. lmao sprint coverage is right behind vzw nationwide and ahead in many places, sprint also has the BEST DATA NETWORK and the most corporate accounts to prove it.. and a huge telco wont just disappear one of the billion dollar corps that rushed at the chance to invest in sprints 4g wimax company (think time warner and google) would eagerly pick up any wireless co.. if your town has better service, or your job, girlfriend, fam are all a different company good stay there id drop sprint by tonight if it made sense.. but some you guys sound like insecure kids that spread lies because sprint has vzw coverage at tmobile prices..

    Man I work for Sprint and hearing this makes me pissed man not only do we lose thousands of subsribers everyday but we did not take Pre-orders for the Pre and now the Tour wow man if we learn something from At&t with Pre-ordering the iPhone 3Gs and with Verizon now taking Pre-Orders for the Tour.. All im saying if sprint does not start picking up the slack were going to fall behind T-mobile I mean we dont even have Net Books..REALLY!?!? But yeah hopefully everything works out with this WiMax 4G Mess that could bring some New Contracts to Us but Overall Sprint better be more AGRESSIVE!!
