Official Firefox 3.5 Final download goes live

Mozilla had made it known that today would be Firefox 3.5 day and it’s a good thing — if you’re like us, you just can’t take the wait anymore. Rejoice! Mozilla has officially made Firefox 3.5 Final available in all of its speedy, tab tearing, private browsing, Javascript gobbling, plugin-less video playing glory. Release notes aren’t yet available but the download link is live and the new build is fantastic… So, umm, what are you waiting for?

UPDATE: Just a word of warning — we’re getting reports from several Mac users that 3.5 has issues with restoring sessions/tabs after exiting and reopening the browser. By issues, we mean it doesn’t work. Windows users are seemingly not affected.

UPDATE 2: If you’re having the problem mentioned above, go to Firefox > Preferences > Privacy [tab]. If “Clear history when Firefox closes” is checked, click on Settings and uncheck “Browsing History”.

It’s true, it does. Let’s see if it keeps its snappiness when it’s left running for a few hours.

If you’re running FF 3.0 wait a bit, or try the auto update. That’s how I got it.

Been using it for about 10 minutes. From FF 3.0.11: wow… Just, wow.

Not too much different, looks just like regular FireFox. So far so good. Again with an average of 9 tabs open at once all the time – we’ll see.

Then of course there is youtube, netflix, etc… I’ll see later if it makes a noticeable difference.

Love the Firefox… I wish they’d do more on the mobile front! Mozilla needs to get that mobile version out already!

Google has dropped the ball… No google gears support when the final version is released!? Not a good way to encourage people to get rid of their email/calendar applications . Seriously, I was just getting comfortable with using the web interfaces of gmail and gcal exclusively. This better be fixed before I go up to the cottage next.

Got it for my work PC. It’s nice although there are two toolbars that I don’t use but can not remove. Waste of a little screen space.

Anyone else noticing issues with Slacker Radio being played thru Firefox 3.5? Songs don’t advance properly to the next track sometimes.

All you had to do was this morning, go to their FTP site and download it. It always shows up there about 3/4 of a day early, before they update their website.

No update for me. Must have had 3.5 since last week when it updated itself. Have found only one problem for me and that is “slow or no scrolling while there are animated images on the page”. Have reported the bug and got a reply that they will look in to it. The Tab/Page recovery has not been an issue for me on my Mac G4 10.5.7. Matter of fact, I’d rather that it not do it. I’ll find the setting, fingers crossed, to turn it off.

Otherwise, like it a lot. And glad to see Add-On developers updating quickly.

    Thank you all.
