I would assume it’s more than just bug fixes if it’s 3.1. If it was just bug fixes, it would be 3.0.1. MMS is enabled in 3.0, the carrier settings just have to be updated for it to work.

If it was JUST bug fixes, it would be 3.0.1. I’m not expecting too many new features, but I hope they fix up power management. That would be huge in itself, since even 2G iPhone users say that battery life has decreased. I’m glad to see Apple working hard to fix issues.

I hope it increases battery life on the 3gs and the sooner this comes out the sooner the dev team releases the jailbreak to the world.

I’d hazard a bet MobileMe iDisk access is in there somewhere.

Voice Control for the iP3G would be greatly appreciated. Ahem. Apple?

@Scrofula: Are you still beating that horse? Seriously. When will you disgruntled (insert any device here) users stop? You bitch and moan when it doesn’t have it and then bitch and moan when it does. Is you life so unfulfilled that you must must continue to beat that dead horse long after most of the other assholes have stopped?

Poor evilhomer, the truth upsets you as you continue to yearn for a modern functional phone. Hopefully the update is to stay 2 to 3 steps ahead of the dev team too. cha-ching wanker

@Scrofula: The fact that you are living a miserable life still crying like a little bitch over things are no longer relevant doesn’t upset me at all. It actually amuses me. Seeing comments like your’s makes me glad that I’m not you so thanks for making me happy.

    evilhomer and scrofula,
Are ya’ll serious fighting over updates like voice dialing, voice commands through bluetooth and mms? Ya’ll gotta be shitting me……
The first razor had all the features instead of voice commands. How revolutionary is that? Not at all right? But when apple say its new and revolutionary everyone go bananas for it like it never been out for almost 10 years. Blackberry have all of that since the 8320 curve came out. All HTC phones supports all of that when the first MDA came out and thats dirt old. Shit even sidekicks send mms and have stereo bluetooth. Wake up people, wake up!

I didn’t get the wrong phone, and I didn’t hope it would be something I already knew it wasn’t. In addition, I don’t recall stating in any way, shape, or form that I intended to get something else because I want a feature nearly every smartphone in the world has. I simply want multi-tasking as an add on that will come in the 4th generation iPhone or within an update. The battery argument Apple gives us is preposterous. Hello, give us a better battery! I don’t consider my iPhone 3GS or any other iPhone “smartphones” until multi-tasking comes in out of the box. It’s a high-end multimedia device until then, a damned good one if you ask me, but you know if they had the ability to run apps in the background, you’d be all over it. Plus, everyone would find folder options useful.

Depends on what type of features you’re going to need out of a smartphone/feature phone. If you’re going to need a way to manage folders and type/edit Excel and Word documents, as well as e-mail and create them, the iPhone App Store offers these types of apps for a nominal fee. I have read there are power apps to do these things that work very well, but I have not tried any of them. As for RIM phones, all I know is that they have a pretty good business app section in their version of the App Store, and that they, out of the box, are made to support business use from day one. But as for actual functionality of those types of features I mentioned the iPhone has (based on using apps you DL for business use), I haven’t a clue. I don’t know if I’ve helped, but I hope I have!!!!
