BlackBerry Curve 8520 blessed by FCC; T-Mobile subscribers’ mouths water
Yeah, we’ve already confirmed that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be dropping on T-Mobile next month but while the Tour trolls are occupied with a flurry of new fodder, why not take a moment to enjoy it once again? Mmmmm, optical trackpad. T-Mobile customers are often forced to wait what seems like ages for hot new devices so it’s always nice to see what looks like a timely release shaping up. Today, another piece of the puzzle slides into place as the sleek little handset receives the FCC’s blessing. Yay. So, T-Moblers, is the Tour going to be enough to pull you away from Tmo or will you be showing off your budget, optical trackpad-rocking 8520 with Pink pride? Cu, Cu, Curve?

I believe you have demonstated who talks out of their ass pretty nicely here.
no body cares about wack berries well maybe that fool over there in the suite with out a real media player on his device, if its for work well let your company pay for it if you want a good device well get an i-phone,palm pre or the g1,g2 or even a sidekick lol…
Not bad but my contract isn’t over till October so im gonna be waiting till I get a new phone. Hopefully by the we’ll either have word of a 3G Blackerberry, or of that G1 v2 that might happen.
@ Bdizzah
didnt his lawyer say @ the time that he pays him with blow**** ? looks like conrad told him “dude, i’m not gay!!” and so the case went south from there.

Is there ever going to be a blackberry with 3g and UMA released for T-mobile? Not sure why T-mobile isnt pushing UMA / 3G devices.
Agreed. I jumped on the 8900 because it’s the only BB T Mo has offered thus far that’s actually got some kind of decent specs on it. The Pearl flip is a joke. I wonder what the price is on this one. $99?
Hahaha TourTrolls is catchy. I like to think I helped bring that moniker to life.
Anywho, this BB isn’t bad. It’s at least an attempt at innovation with the optical track pad.

I’d much rather have a touchscreen than an optical trackpad. My opti trackpad/mouse is rarely ever used on my phone.
Besides the optical trackpad and new O.S., what does the 8520 offer above and beyond the Curve 8320? In reviewing the specs, the 8520 has the same screen and battery life. It also is Edge only but has wifi/UMA but no GPS. The Curve 8900 is a significant step up from the 8320, but in some ways, the 8520 seems like a step-down from the 8320. The lack of 3G support is not a big deal for me, but ideally I would prefer a phone that has it.
y does rim always keep that design make more touch screen blackberries i dont care what ne one says but its ugly and they need to just start over they cant compete with the iphone the g1 or the pre so rim make a fuckin different design………….
iphone 3gs jailbroken
BackBeat hahahahhaha that loser was banned from using the public library. Thank god! I’m starting to consider the iphone after that BGR post about RIM.
backbeat cant use the local library computers because he is a registered sex offender. maybe bg will let him snail mail comments.
@Adonis:
You like it until one of those buttons cracks.
Trust me.
That will be the #1 reason for return on the 85 series, and the #1 reason why your carrier will claim that it’s not covered.
@Mike:
Not in stone yet, but they are eying a $49.99 price point.
Of course, it will probably launch at $99.99 for all you idiots who will go out there and waste your upgrade eligibility on this because you want the newest (lame-ass) BlackBerry…Then 45 days later they will drop it to $49.99.
Carriers aren’t dumb.
Same reason why the 9630 will drop to $149.99 within 60 days after launch. Because they are going to milk you for all the money they can at launch for those people who are addicts…
I’ll tell you what wrong with this 3G crap. In order for you to have this wonderful cell-phone or any other new phone, you’ll have to dish out more money a month to have 3G. It’s coming to the point that simple cell service will diminish. Unlike you folks with the fancy gadgets, I rely on my cell phone (my only source) and can’t afford and extra $40.00USD a month just to have a nicer phone. In other words, don’t weed out the regular cell phone and replace them with all 3G, unless you start lowering prices or do a bundle package. Do I really need to look at my phone to see where I am? Have we come to the point that we can’t look-up and read the street sign? One more thing, I like how T-Mobile weeded out the $24.99USD and made it $39.99USD a month to have internet/e-mail service.
once again RIM proves it’s nothing more than the “frito lay” marketing company…. “hurry get another bag on the shelf with a slightly different flavor, folks won’t know it’s the same as all the other flavors, but we’ll have plenty of shelf space”
Yes it’s ah big deal, and I wish BB and TMO would stop f*@#ing around and drop the 3G BB. I’m too loyal of ah customer of both companies for this type of foreplay i.e. 8900, 8520. And yes I heard the rumors of a Driftwood/Onyx but I’m hungry for reality! Seeing is believing, and it’s bad enough that TMO Germany has the Blackberry Bold 3G in there lineup but the US is starving. TMO your killin me
Well I figure RIM makes all their money from subscribers, not phones. So the more people they can lure into Blackberry service the happpier they are. This will grab some of those people who just cant justify dropping $200 on a new phone, even though they very much want a Blackberry. Think of it as Blackberry is going slumming if you want. It makes sense that it’s released TMO, who caters to the value minded (cheap) consumer anyway. TMO will require a data plan for you to get one of these but they will sell a ton anyway, and Blackberry will have a ton more subscribers. 8530s have been spotted too so Sprint/Verizon will have a budget choice also soon. And I doubt if AT&T will have to wait 5 months to get a crack at this like they did the 8900. We’ll be up to our armpits in 85xx soon.
Hmmm…no 3G? no GPS? Sounds like an entry level Blackberry to me…sigh.
wtf?? Blackberry fans? Who the hell is a fan of black berries? This is crazy, what the wack berry can do other than corporate emails really! I had two wack berries and i don’t know why people use it for personal use, if it’s not work why you would want it? The cell phone networks rob you for the so call black berry plan which is bull like i said if you’re not getting your bill paid by the man get a real smart phone if RIM didn’t come up with the whole blackberry sever thing what would it be ??? OH I know a FU*KING CALCULATOR the makes calls!!!
My T-Mobile rep just confirmed that there will be a launch party for this device.there is a strong chance they will give a free device to all attendees. I will keep you posted of any well hidden invite links…
that’s because t-mobile blows
Blackberrys ALL look like other Blackberrys. Pretty sad.
T-Mo is launching a 3G/UMA BlackBerry, it will be a 9300 series and due out Q4. The reason it has taken so long is that T-Mo is the only carrier that supports free VoIP calling via their UMA technology (GSM over Wi-Fi), that tech, plus the radios of their networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA, and to top it off a GPS radio, it is a very customized device and costs money and time to complete, not to mention the economy just took a dump the last 6 months. Q4 you’ll see the BB Onyx
Hmmm…I’ve been a very active user of UMA on my TMO Blackberry Curve 8320 for over a year now.
@Mankato
“Because TMo want to keep as much pressure off their 3G as possible so the fewer popular 3g phones released the more reliable their networks seems to be because its underworked…”
This was what I referring too…..Jackass. I already have seen ALL the new T-Mo dataphones coming out this year. And thanks for referring to some old ass news. That BB will not be out till Q4. Good try you looked smart for a hot minute and now your just a dumbass
