Tegra-powered Mobinnova élan gets some hands on love, drool
Call it a netbook, call it a smartbook or call it whatever else you want — the bottom line is the Mobinnova élan is one of several upcoming miniature notebooks we can’t wait to see reach market. Beyond the sexy styling, intelligent design and integrated 3G connectivity, the élan will likely be the first NVIDIA Tegra-fueled notebook to reach market. Mmm, Tegra. The 8.9-inch screen on this puppy is just itching to cough up some sexy accelerated video and the battery/power management supposedly affords up to 10 hours of continuous HD video playback on a single charge or up to 24 days of continuous audio playback according to Mobinnova. Despite its distracting pink shell, the guys over at netbooknews.com just issued a solid little hands on video of the élan (thankfully, it wasn’t shot in the middle of a show floor) that gives us all plenty of reasons to have our interest re-piqued. Hit the jump for the video of the sexy little Windows CE-powered smartbook, which by the way is due for release sometime in Q4.
Thanks, TheLostSwede!

That tegra chip looks bigger than I had pictured… Maybe my hopes that it will soon find its way to an android smartphone are crushed

fail.
It’s sexy hardware, no doubt, but Windows CE instead of Linux? Not sure what they’re thinking there – it’s not like there’s a ton of software that runs on that platform.
I’m still interested since I’m sure you’ll be able to put Linux on there, but as yet I’ve seen no mention of price at all. For a lot of people, not being able to run a real version of Windows will be a big minus, so unless it undercuts the pricing on Atom offerings I just don’t see this as having any sort of market.

That smartbook looks sleak — I am looking forward to seeing these smartbooks arrive onto the marketplace — when will be watching Smartbook TV?

@twoboxen
you want snapdragon.
Why does BGR continuously #FAIL?
This device only does 720p playback, not 1080p as the tags in this post say. I know you guys could care less about the quality of content as long as you keep racking up page views but c’mon. Some of us like reading your scoops. Get your s*it together, BGR. The site’s been going downhill steadily ever since that AT&T-sponsored party y’all had a few years back.

” NVIDIA Tegra-based platform that supports accelerated Adobe® Flash® animations and 720p high-definition video playback.”
llcoolJ, seriously, its the difference between 720p and 1080p on an EIGHT INCH SCREEN. Wait excuse me, 8.9″ because that too will cause enough to try and cry about every little issue ever posted. People make mistakes. Deal with it. If you have that much sand in your panties to complain about the resolution being misquoted then I think you have other issues to deal with first.
As far as the netbook/small notebook goes, whats with the pink mentioned in the review? Im at work so the video stream is blocked. The picture BGR posted looks mighty nice though.
Just love that 2” tubular hinge!
@Ron: I think its the battery.
Its defiantly not the screen hinge. Plus the way it swings down is actually kinda cool. Bet it helps with cooling.
@PCMGEE your a dumbass!
I admit I’m scratchin’ my head on the Win-CE thing…. Why not Windows 7? There’s still time to fix that, if you’re lookin’ at a 4Q launch, Mobinova guys… Aside from that, what’s presented looks pretty good. Batt life is impressive!
@anthony
YOU FAIL!!!! dumb ASS
