Palm releases webOS 1.0.4 update for Pre

We just got a couple tips that Palm has released webOS version 1.0.4 as an OTA update for the Palm Pre. This is rumored to address some corporate Exchange issues and hopefully some other bugs. Let us know the results once you upgrade!
Thanks, Basil!
UPDATE: Apparently this plugged the “homebrew app” loophole.

first.
cool
i would love the palm pre if the os wasn’t filled with so many ugly, unnecessary curves. there’s not a sharp edge in the damn thing, lol even the corners of the screen are curved.
Wow that was quick. Didnt they just have a 1.0.3 update last week or something ?
Did it, have no clue what it did. The update isn’t even on palms support page yet.
- sent from my palm pre
Downloaded and installed easily enough. Don’t notice any immediate changes. Hope it improves battery life…
I hope they keep updating the OS, because it appears to be the best OS out there for consumers. Hopefully by the time other handsets reach other carriers it will be rock solid.
doesn’t address the EAS issues being experienced.
It corrects a security hole which allowed users to install un-authorized apps via email.
Downloading as I type. Lets how you can change ringers.
p.s. MORE APPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I’m with Dragon…I hope they keep updating the OS consistently. Especially since it’s OTA, it’s non-intrusive. Who wouldn’t want what seem like “instant fixes” often? Good for you, Palm.
Yeah I don’t think anything could help the “Palm Pre” I sold it and bought the iPhone 3GS. It’s a much more pwerful device, less bugs, better battery, faster, and has alot of apps.

Installed 1.0.4. Haven’t noticed anything in particular. I have been having a weird issue where the calendar app displays the wrong date of the month and no push mail occurs overnight. This happens rarely, but a reboot of the phone fixes the problem.
Anyone else seeing this issue?
Yeah I installed it too, havent really noticed anything different.
Yeah I got my 3G S two days ago, it’s so fast. I love it.
no cares about your 3gs! go and get your fart app! (really fast)
Battery Life needs to be upgraded and apps for speed
if you think the 3gs is faster than the pre, go take a look at the video comparing the speed of the 3gs vs the pre on cnet.com. Then come tell me which is faster.
palm gave a shot out to the hacker that found the security hole.. they blocked the email download but left alone all of the other hacks that arent security issues.. much better policy than apple..
^Ya get dizzy spinning that story? You’re dripping with bias. DAYAM!
Can’t wait for an iPhone is emulator on the pre!! Lolol bash on haters haha
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
PRE > Iphone 3gs
Unfortunately this doesn’t fix the lack of EAS enforcement.
No prompt to set a password / timeout based on your EAS policy as well no Remote Wipe functionality
I’ve just downloaded the update. Awww..no more app loophole? hehehe.
Doesn’t matter..the Palm Pre is absolutely amazing. Don’t understand why people write about iPhone 3Gs here when it’s apparent that the Palm Pre can do everything the iPhone can do and more.
True multitasking? Pre..yes, iPhone..failed
Works as USB Flash Drive? Pre..yes, iPhone..failed
Real Keyboard? Pre..yes, iPhone..failed
Turn-by-turn GPS navigation software? Pre..yes, iPhone..failed

WoW.
My 3G S was faster. I did the test with the people in the video, my Iphone was about 4 to 5 seconds faster. Now did u hear the guy when he said the Pre was on 4G? and mine is only on 3G. Damn I can only imagine how faster it is going to get when AT&T upgrades to 7.2 Mbps. It’s going to be like ur going to be like
@ Dont-hate
FYI – The Palm Pre cannot do 4G. Lots of rumors are flying that it will be the first 4G capable phone from Sprint BUT it does not currently have the firmware to run on a 4G network even if the tester was in a 4G zone.
3GS is much faster on loading web pages. My wife picked up one over the weekend and it delivers a better web experience.
I’m ditching the Pre because of Sprint’s network. No service at work = no phone. To bad, because I hate giving it up. The form factor is better than the iphone and the keyboard is easy to get used to. Overall I like the experience better. But I need it to be my phone 1st, so it has to go back.
I have a 3GS coming in the mail today. Maybe I’ll ditch it when the Pre hits verizon (or ATT)
