BlackBerry Tour officially hitting Verizon on July 12th

We’re not sure how much doubt a person could have had before, but in the interest of being crystal clear, Verizon Wireless will make the BlackBerry Tour available online and in stores on July 12th for $199 with a two year agreement. You can preorder the device starting from this moment on.

Thanks, Stang68!

So what is the retail price with VZW? If it’s $500 I can pay my cancel fee and get a bold for myself and a curve 8900 for the wife and spend about the same (or wait for the 9020). I may only be 1 year into my 2 year contract but if VZW wants to keep my business there going to sell it for their 1yr contract price not retail or I’ll head over to ATT which has a cheaper monthly plan anyway. Competition is good!

Has anyone been able to do a pre-order upgrade? That does not seem to work for me. It seems like they are just setting up pre-orders for new service.

    Very strange.

^its not competition if the other brand doesn’t have comparable service. Att is getting ridiculous now. Data speeds have plummeted since the iphone came out. I’m gonna buy a tour on a new verizon line when it comes out just to see how much better vzw is, but I probably won’t switch because of my family plan on att.

    @ Eric

See my post above. The upgrade isn’t available for pre-order. Not even available for current subscribers. It’s for non vzw customers. Totes Shitty to the max brah no homo

they might have taken it down and are going to make it available to everyone. When I spoke to the rep at 10am she said they had already gotten alot of subscribers unhappy about the pre-order. But maybe they only allowed a limited # of pre-orders.

What a load of bullshit, I have held off on buying a phone since I first saw this phone 7 months ago. I have waited very patiently and now I can’t pre order because I’m a loyal customer to verizon?? Verizon is F-ing up big time.

(Ps this is from an itouch and not an iphone)

Guess I got lucky. I called telesales early yesterday after seeing this on BGR and the rep said its a glitch on the site and she processed my NE2 upgrade to the Tour. We now know it wasn’t a glitch, they just didnt want old customers yet. I can’t prove it actually got processed but when I log into verizon now it no longer shows me eligibile for the NE2 so I guess it took.
