BlackBerry Tour dummy units begin arriving at Bell stores; release imminent
Huh, what’s this? Bell has begun shipping out dummy units of the highly anticipated BlackBerry Tour 9630? Yes indeed it has, alongside the typical promotional materials which, as per Bell’s general practice, which means the launch is likely just a few weeks away. Does this mean we could see the Tour hit Bell the same week it drops on Verizon? It’s looking that way, folks — in fact our ninjas pin the date as Friday, July 17th. Excited? Yeah, we are too. Hit the jump for a few more pics.
Thanks, Carbs!

first?, I’ll wait for the Storm 2, I wish the Hero would come to Verizon.
tuh tuh tuh TOUR!
I was waiting for you grrr
as ugly as that new motorola, but lots more expensive
Someone please explain to me the fascination with this thing.
the fascination is that there is a glimmer of hope that sprint will get a new blackberry sometime this summer.
With this BlackBerry Verizon and Sprint get the last trackballs that RIMM has in stock… Bring on the opticals!!!
ok so besides sprint what else is so great about it? it only looks a little different than the other blackberries
HELL. AND. YES. Good for Bell, good for Verizon, and (THANK GOD) good for Sprint… Now I can finally replace my 8330.
@sonya you didn’t have to wait long
Is there any truth to the July 20 (I think that was the date) that I saw on engadget?
yeauuuh! have been waiting patiently
grrr,
PLEASE explain to us why this thing is the holy grail of phones. Seriously,I want to know.
Who cares. Mobile carriers in Canada are ripping us Canadians off every month.
Only for the people that want an updated Blackberry on their ridiculous CDMA networks that isn’t the failure that was the Storm–or at least is in the traditional blackberry QWERTY candybar formation. Other than that, it really is just an amalgamation of the Bold and Curve 8900, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
@swagGRRR its not, but i’m stuck with vzw and its the best phone they have. so i’m buying a TOUR.
@jeremiah
Well said. I was pretty excited for the bold also, though it wouldn’t compare with grrr;) I think VZW peeps just want a decent BB, since storm is not very well liked. Just my 2 cents
Yep. I remember my vzw days. Always had clunker berries not to mention no iPhone. So, yeah, I definitely understand the excitement. Now I can’t wait to see what AT&T gets to up the ante. Whatever it is, there I’ll be.
@ phel. It’s called humor, or a try at it.
Thank-you for your cooperation,
Conrad Hernandez
@gokmengs exactly. i had high hopes for the storm, but the wobbly screen annoys the shit out of me.
Seems like RIM is turning into Apple with minor updates on a phone but making it seem like a whole new device!
At least RIM changes the shape a bit I guess.
Att will be getting the Onyx (or the Bold 9020 as it likely will be called). Upgraded camera, RAM, optical trackpad. Should be nice….
Well a Rep at a Sprint store today told me that they will be getting some Tour units in stock in the next couple weeks, he wasnt certain the specific day but said that Sprint will definitely get them In July.
Yawn.
The bastard child of the Bold and the Curve has people excited?
2000 called, they want their phone OS back.
Tour is nice, but still not as sexy as the Magnum!! The Magnum is…..nevermind!
Why do people, who have probably never used Blackberry OS, always deride the OS for looking aged? Granted, the UI could look more decent, but that’s only moreso in the settings. Obviously, it’s been a proven formula, so why mess with it? Not everyone is ADHD and needs screen transitions and wiggling icons.
