Still waiting on a Google Voice invite? This could take a while…

As impatient people craving access to Google Voice continue to wait for the arrival of that joyous invitation email, Google Voice head Craig Walker gives us a brief insight into just how long of a wait some users may be looking at. A short while ago, Walker tweeted that the team is currently working on invitations that have been pending since the days of GrandCentral before it moves on to more recent invitations requested since Google acquired the service. The clarify that time frame, Google snatched up GrandCentral way back in July of 2007 — meaning that if you’ve requested an invite recently, you’ve probably got a hell of a wait ahead of you considering the GrandCentral invite system was killed two years ago.

Not sure what I did differently, but I visited the Google Voice site yesterday, and got my invite today.
i got my invite around 8 this evening. not sure how long ago i requested an invite, but so far so good. the only complaint i have now is that there has been some delay on attempts to call other phones THROUGH GV. forwarding from the GV number to my phones works as it should.
@ michael

If anyone has an extra invite I would love to get it! kev4850@yahoo.com
thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my invite last night but it couldn’t do the test call to my cell phone. Any ideas? Also, does anyone know the process for changing GV #s if you move and want a new area code?
I’m not waiting anymore, I got mine.
As of right now you can not change your number once it is assigned. But you can forward you calls to Google Talk now. (Although not the offical built in Google way yet, with the help of Gizmo 5 it is possible.)

I made my request a LONG time ago, and still no invite. Making me crazy!!
I got my Google Voice invite the day this article was posted!
haha – i got mine a zillion years ago from grand central era. i would be willing to part with it though — for a price. moohoohahhaa
Ok, I can see if it was anybody else besides google… come on people, google should be able to pull this off and deploy this in a few days, not a few weeks. We’re not dealing with Microsoft here.
Anyone got an invite? jerico2day [a] gmail com
You’d be my best friend forever!
How google voice will integrate with other sms services, like text2land.com service?
With text2land you can send sms to landline phones, very useful. I hope Google Voice will allow this service too.
Just requested my invite the other day. If anyone has an extra invite I would greatly appreciate it. michaeltiberia@gmail.com
Have had it since the beginning. Need a separate number for Seattle & Phoenix. Can’t use my cell number unless it’s deleted from one account. Even if it is shut off or directly to VM. Has to be permanently deleted. Really sucks. Think they need to through some more cash into development and make it a more value added product.
if you have an extra invite shoot it to rregitano@hotmail.com
thanks
rich
You can use your cell phone with 2 GV number. BUT only if you setup the phone numbers as a office or home number. The one downside is you can’t get text messages for you voice mail.
Still waiting for my invite, and I signed up back when it was GC. sure doesn’t look like a first-come first-serve list.
… and why we’re all looking for invites, james.danylik at Gmail could sure use one if there’s any lying around to be had. But I doubt there is… :[
Can someone who has received a GV Invite tell me the sender’s address? I want to make sure my SPAM software isn’t catching it.
Can existing users give out invites? We could with Gmail and Writely (now Google Docs)
