BlackBerry Tour hitting Verizon Wireless on July 12th, selling for $199?

Well, you heard that right peoples. It looks like Verizon Wireless is gearing up to launch the much-awaited BlackBerry Tour on July 12th. The best part? It appears it’s going to go for $199 with a two-year agreement according to Verizon’s testman site. That’s sweet spot pricing and hey, let’s be upfront — they’re going to move truckloads of these things.

Thanks, Grrr!

    @Tannis -

    Yeah, Verizon has been super secretive about the whole thing. It’s driving me nuts. I went on to their Web site and even did the whole live chat thing trying to find out more info. and ended up telling off the sales associate I was chatting with, because I was so angry!! Is it really asking that much just to tell us when we’ll able to buy the damn thing? And how much it will be?

    If it’s $199 – 70 (the rebate), and then if we can knock off another $50 for our new every 2, that would be great. I would be so happy. And if I were you, I’d definitely wait the extra 6 days until you’re eligible. :) This phone seems worth it (and I’ve never owned a blackberry before!)

    . Verizon will have special deals for new customers but for upgrades good luck. if you have a plan under 99.99 and are not looking to add any more features like tethering or vz navigator or upgrade to an unlimted blackberry data and voice plan then you may be out of luck. if you are not getting anything more then verizon will not move the upgrade date. Unless you have connections then your going to have to wait

    Is this the new name for the Niagra, or is that a different model to be released later?

    That’s what I did! Got the curve for 40 after the rebate and when the Tour comes out, I’m getting that! Within 30 days you can return a phone and get any other phone and you only have to pay the difference. So if the Tour is released at 199, I only pay 199-119! And that’s even BEFORE rebates!! Definately a great decision.

    This could be BS, but I called my local Verizon Store 15 minutes ago (not an authorized retailer by the way) and the sales lady said the Tour would not be released on Verizon until November.

    She could be talking out of her ass, but I worry because of no official release from Verizon around the mid July date people are talking about.

    Just thought I’d share.

    uhhh… so the Tour is basically the CDMA/EVDO version of the Bold, right? I mean… right?

    Ah… I dont’ really care. I’m just tired of seeing the same guy under 14 different screen names going on and on about a phone that already seems to exist on At&t. I guess if you’re VZW customer who refuses to jump ship (which I can respect that, At&t sucks anyway) for the Bold, then it’s exciting. Otherwise, yawn. I just don’t understand why they don’t call it Bold for VZW. maybe because at&t has the Bold name under contract?

    Whatever.

    lol. Ok, so to not make all the Crackberry Fan-douches get so irritated, I took it upon myself to compare the Bold to the Tour on BlackBerry’s own website.

    From what I can tell, the Tour differs in that…

    - It’s slightly smaller
    - has a couple more bluetooth options
    - screen if different dimension (480×360, Bold is 480×320)
    - slighlty better battery
    - Tour does NOT have 1GB of storage
    - Tour has 2x the internal flash (256mb)
    - NO wi-fi on Tour (man, did I read that right? Are you serious??)
    - is UMTS/HSPA/CDMA whereas Bold is HSDPA

    jake says:

    i repeat what someone else pointed out– why would you need wifi on a network where you always have a fast data connection?
    I can understand on ATT, or in a location with no signal, but really– if I’m in NYC using a data PDA I don’t ever need to log in to someone’s router.

    I just talked to a Verizon sales person over the phone. I asked if I could preorder the Tour. He was flustered and came back from his manager saying there is no release date yet.

    you can pre-order now, but only on the website, and the upgrade plan method is not letting you select the Tour. Verizon is aware of this bug and is working on it

    Has anyone pre-ordered the Tour through Verizon yet?! If so, can you tell me how much it was, with the rebates and new every two year credit?

    Thanks!

    I just pre-ordered my BB Tour on verizonwireless.com as my new every two upgrade. They just started letting you pre-order it as an upgrade. It was 99 bucks if you order it online! 269 dollars with two year contract…less 100 dollars for the new every two discount…then less 70 dollars for ordering online. 99 bucks? That to me is awesome!

    @michael:

    Really?? I called and spoke with a Verizon customer service person yesterday, who said the phone (with the new every two upgrade) would be $149.99 online! For you it was only $99?? Wow…

    Also, my other problem is that for some reason, when I click “upgrade” on the Tour’s page, and I login, I cannot see the Tour available for me to upgrade to… did this happen to you, or do you know why this might be happening to me??
