BlackBerry Tour hitting Verizon Wireless on July 12th, selling for $199?

Well, you heard that right peoples. It looks like Verizon Wireless is gearing up to launch the much-awaited BlackBerry Tour on July 12th. The best part? It appears it’s going to go for $199 with a two-year agreement according to Verizon’s testman site. That’s sweet spot pricing and hey, let’s be upfront — they’re going to move truckloads of these things.

Thanks, Grrr!

@ albertweickert. Or whatever the hell it is you call yourself.

Another anonymous bullshit commentor. You’re an ass for telling Caroline she has a lame life. If she’s serious, your comment is mean. If she’s not serious, then your comment is dumb. Dumb and/or mean, nice. Tell us all about yourself, Mr. Cool.

Do you have a vested interest in Apple? What do you do?

    @ BG

I have to cut and paste for another application to the comments entry bos for it to work reasonably well on my BlackBerry Bold. It’s a dog.

The 3G(s) fails in many ways, first of all its on ATT. The data speeds are so slow compared to a PDA on Verizon. That’s why customers outside see WiFi as a benefit because America’s fastest network is really not that fast. I put my blackberry’s side by side on the ATT and VZW network and there is no comparison. VZW blows ATT away. I have a 3G(s) as well and its even slower than my Bold. I do not work for verizon, but I work for ATT. I’m going to give up my discount so I can get better coverage and faster data speeds. The iphone on att is like my girlfriend..sexy, hott at times, but not reliable. Any blackberry on verizon is like my wife..always there for me, reliable, and always gonna put out when I request it. I’m sure my opinion of the iphone would change if the exclusive rights ran out and verizon picked it up. I will keep my 3G(s) because it’s a change of pace for UI, but I will always keep my VZW Blackberry (especially the Tour next month) in the other pocket when I need to make phone calls that don’t drop and when I need to access the internet quickly. Of course, this all applies to my calling are in the South. I’m sure others have different results elsewhere, but I gave ATT a chance to change it and they have not. Like getting herpes, I went into it quickly without thinking now I have to pay for the next 2 years. It’s all good though, rocking 3 phones makes me the geek that i am.

what the happiness? $199.00 no WI FI.
I will pass this one and stay with the Bold ATT.
when Verizon will have BB ture plus WI FI I will move.
I think that Verizon lost the big chance to have the oltimate device by not including the WI FI.

    Q –> Curve –>Q –>Tour

I recently used my every-two discount to get a Curve.
I was coming from a Motorola Q, which I loved despite how slow it was, and how slow it was (did I mention slow?) So I had high expectations for the Curve.
Everyone had said how “once you go crack you never go back”.
I liked some things– the GPS directions, for instance. It was faster, yes.
But I ended up returning the Curve and going back to using my old (and breaking Q). I was either going to get an iphone on ATT (despite the fact that i live and work in NYC where ATT coverage is poor) or was going to wait for something else to come out under Verizon.
Then I found out the Tour is coming out. I’m getting the Tour.

Here’s why: The keyboard on the tour is more like the Q, the keys are spread out a little more and its just enough to make fast typing manageable. I tried someone’s ATT Bold, and was happy. If I didn’t need a real physical QWERTY keyboard, I would get an iphone. It’s about typing, so the keyboard should be usable by humans. My hands are not huge, but I couldn’t adjust to the small keys on the Curve.

Also, the Curve was manufactured very poorly, the plastic felt cheap, and it didn’t seem well built. The Bold feels more solid. But you’re getting what you pay for– the Curve was free with my every-two discount, but I will have to pay $100 for the Tour.

I was considering the iphone, but am choosing the Tour because I need to email for work, I don’t care about browsing the internet, organizing my audio collection, or editing movies on my phone. That’s what my Macbook Pro, or my MacPro, or any of my other computers are for.
When I am working, I simply need to email & view attachments.

    The Tour is the winner.
