BlackBerry Tour hitting Verizon Wireless on July 12th, selling for $199?

Well, you heard that right peoples. It looks like Verizon Wireless is gearing up to launch the much-awaited BlackBerry Tour on July 12th. The best part? It appears it’s going to go for $199 with a two-year agreement according to Verizon’s testman site. That’s sweet spot pricing and hey, let’s be upfront — they’re going to move truckloads of these things.

Thanks, Grrr!

    My NE2 is July 23rd.

Do you think it’d be cheaper to pre-order at the intro price of $199 or order with my NE2 discount on July 23rd with the phone at a “non-introductory price?”

@Meredith…based on your last post I don’t think you’ve quite gotten why the Tour has its appeal. As someone pointed out, if you want BB AND are a dedicated CDMA subscriber, the last QWERTY Blackberry was the Curve, a 2G, non-world, non-GPS device first mentioned by BGR in 2007 — before the 1st iPhone! — and launched over a year ago. (The Storm was a mistake for many long-time users; it would never satisfy a crackberry addict’s need for a physical keyboard.) Meanwhile RIM has launched the Bold and 8900. So the Tour fills a void for CDMA users.

I’m going to sell a lot of these — as long as RIM doesn’t flub the software again. Think RIM needs to buy a s/w development house?

Ok first off anyone who’s posting just to hate on Blackberrys is just sad. If u like ur gey ass iphone than goto an iphone thread and post. Hmmmm can we say 3GS is a total absolute fail just to combat the Pre yea I think we can. But anyway on to the Tour…I own pretty much every Berry Sprint has ever released and I’m pumped about the Tour. Everyone who decides about a device because of wi-fi is just plain rediculous. The Tour looks, feels, and works amazing. To all of us Blackberry owners we don’t need some drastic upgrades to warrant our purchase, Blackberrys are by far the most superior device on the market. I hate to rant in anyway but if ur not happy with the Tour then don’t F’in buy it then and move on to something else. Oh by the way ATT’s service absolutely BLOWS!!

@Vince, thank you for the information. I’m not a Blackberry fanboy, especially as I’d rather a touchscreen over a full qwerty keyboard anyday.

All joking aside I have a bold and its awesome, but I will research vzw international voice and data plans, because att’s is not good at all. Especially the data plan you need to buy to use the bb overseas.

You’re full of shit. No BB addict here or elsewhere would believe you’re in possession of a 9630 w/ WiFi without photo documentation period. It’s not being produced for the CDMA crowd. And you have a 9100 too? Right. I bet you have a Magnum and an Atlas laying around the house too…

Vince: not quite correct. The CDMA Curve (8330) is a CDMA 3G device with GPS.

You are correct, though, in that it doesn’t have global roaming and it is starting to show its age.

Tannis, I’m assuming you’re figuring the regular price of the phone, minus the rebate Verizon will offer, minus the $50 they give you towards a new phone for your new every 2, right?

If that’s the case, I’ll definitely be in line buying myself one of these on the 12th… I’ve been eligible for a new upgrade for a few months now but have been patiently waiting for the Tour!

Please let me know if my breakdown of the pricing you listed is accurate/correct.

    Thanks!

I don’t get the big deal about no wifi. I get perfect EVDO coverage in 95% of the places I go. And the other 5% of the time, I can just deal with being disconnected for a little while.

I’ve got a Verizon XV6800 right now that has wifi, and I’ve hardly used it.

Regular Price meaning the 2 Year agreement Price. I’ve already talked to my Verizon store and they didn’t have a price on the TOUR yet(went on Thurs) since my upgrade date is the July 18th.

I’ve been rsearching for months to find the perfect replacement for my orange env :)
