Zune HD to drop September 8th, 16GB and 32GB sizes?
Perhaps the current crop of personal media players on the market just isn’t doing anything for you. It’s perfectly understandable of course, what with modern mobile phones catching up to dedicated players more and more each day. This very fact is the reason that Microsoft’s upcoming Zune HD continues to pique our interest. 3.3-inch 480 x 272 OLED capacitive touchscreen display, built-in HD Radio receiver, HD output (requires an optional dock), Wi-Fi, integrated web browser, multitouch support and Xbox LIVE integration… And of course we recently learned this little spitfire will pack NVIDIA’s Tegra processor at its core. According to a Gizmodo tipster, it looks like Microsoft plans to offer this peppy PMP in 16GB and 32GB varieties — fair enough — and it may be shooting for a September 8th launch. It’s as good a date as any we suppose, and leaves plenty of time to get early adopters on board before a nice little price drop/sale in time for the holidays. Why not?

@LMAO
Apple actually did have a gaming system back in the days. Co-developed with Bandai.
Seeing as not too many knows of this…I’m sure you know how much of a success this was.
I personally would not like to see Apple do that. Because you’d have the idiots coming out yelling “Oh yeah…Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony are just copying off Apple. Yeh…Apple invented the controller” =|
@iDavey,
And that someone else who came up with the iPod is none other than John Rubenstein, who if I remember is now CEO over at Palm. Oh the irony.

@Cliff
Righty-O
But even beyond that. Software and more was not made from Apple. It was made from outside companies that Apple paid. So when people try and talk like Apple is the “mother of all things innovative” it makes me laugh.
They’re just as bad as Microsoft…and the reason that is
-gasp-
they’re a business!
@iDavey,
You are correct on all points. There isn’t a company out there who hasn’t “borrowed” ideas from another one. It’s all about personal preference nowadays.

Cliff and iDavey, yall both just touched on what I was about to say with Rubenstein. All of the fanboys calling the Pre crap are bashing a product that in its own is very Apple-esque (keyboard notwithstanding). Rubenstein was at the heart of the iPod and there are ideas instilled in the iPhone that came from him and are part of the Pre. Again, I love Apple products but these idiots that think everything other than Apple products is shit annoy me to no end. I had a Pre for two weeks and being more of a tech whore than an Apple fan really appreciated the effort from Palm and the potential competition that it will offer up. I ended up back with the 3GS as right now with the apps it is just a more enjoyable experience for me even though lack of multitasking still pisses me off. I will definitely be keeping an eye on the Pre as the SDK is released and the OS continues to be refined.
Right. I’m no fan of the iPhone or iPod (although the 3GS is on the right track I must admit)
But that doesn’t stop me from recognizing that Apple has the TOP GUI for a OS in OS X (PC, not mobile). And they do know how to market the hell out of a product. Hence why iPod is synonymous with PMPs now.
But where they succeed, they also fail too.
Everyone wants to pick on MS because they take things and do it “subjectively” better.
These are businesses…not the Boy Scouts. In the end it all boils down to who can take an idea and sell it the best. It’s no longer about which product is “better”.
Windows is just a bigger juggernaut at everything but PMP market (which I doubt Ballmer is all too worried about when they are making money in practically every other sector)
Does that make them better? Not by a longshot.
I prefer OS X over Windows…but will I ever get it…no. Not until they are near equal market share. I like the OS I’m using to be a “default” thought so to say.
But with web apps becoming the “next big thing” and there not being any barrier between things…I might switch.
But then it still boils down to I like choice of hardware. As I’ve stated numerous times through here, LOL. I’m not a fan of American hardware. Every hardware (beyond my bluetooth) is Japanese, Taiwanese, or Korean (PS3, HTC, and Asus)
32 gb? Seriously? What is this, 2003? I need at least ten times that amount of storage space. Fail.
@ Will Entrekin
There’s an app for that
@ aggie
Priceless…LMAO
Love everything about zune hd cept for one thing, hdd space is way too small
Disappointed.. Why Match Apple..Why not upstage them…Ehat will I do with a 32GB…I currently have a 80GB Zune….
Uh to the people yelling “32GB WTF”
Realize…They HAVE to use a flash memory because capacitive screens do not function properly with a spinning disk (HDD) underneath it. You want bigger size…get an iPod/Zune 80+
iDavey I don’t think you can read, let alone comprehend.
I just said that xerox was the first to use and invented the modern day GUI. Did you not get that? Oh let me see, or comprehend.
I said that Apple “stole’ the modern day GUI from xerox. Said it plain as day. It seems my history lessson for you paid off.
In your original post your didn’t have a clue. I clued you in. Isn’t a ‘thanks’ in order?
But the fact of the matter is that Apple did bring the modern day PC to the masses. Microsoft “stole’ their technology and ideas and implemented them for themselves.
That is a fact. Apple created the iphone. Yes they used others ideas, but were the “first’ again to implement it to the masses. Again Microsoft is “stealing’ their technology.
Do you comprehend my uneducated friend?
@ Cliff and iDavey
Get a room u 2.
@Jcrow
No, you didnt tell me anything dimwit.
I reiterated what you said in order to give the whole account.
Main part being that Apple was in AGREEMENT with Microsoft.
So how can you STEAL something when its GIVEN it to you???
No one denied they brought the first PC to the masses. But who did it first doesnt matter, and since you’re an Apple fan you HAVE to agree with that or else you go against everything Apple stands for.
So as I said before. Microsoft didn’t steal diddlysquat. Apple handed it to them. Windows handled it better by making it TRULY available to the masses and made a fortune. Apple was high, failed, then came back as the current incarnation with the brilliant mind of Steve Jobs taking the helm.
iDavey thanks for being a sensible individual…Apple even stole the idea of an all touch phone from LG so as you said its cyclical…and its their major cash cow now. MS will always dominate and nothing will change about that. I can’t wait for this Zune!
Oh come on microsoft. Please, give me a 120GB option. I have my 120GB full. Literaly there is less than a gig left. I might just have to wait it out with a 32GB and put only selected content on it
