Sprint eying HTC Hero and an Android-powered 4G Samsung handset?

Now before you get too excited about this, Sprint subscribers, know that we have to throw some annoying words/phrases at it first. Rumor, possible, unconfirmed, skeptical, grain of salt and so on. Right then… According to PhoneNews.com, Sprint finally has Android positioned squarely in its sights. First up, the company is allegedly in the midst of testing the HTC Hero with a planned release toward the end of this year. While we haven’t yet heard any rumblings of a CDMA version in the works, it’s certainly feasible and tough to completely count out. Secondly, the blog reports that Sprint is currently testing an Android-powered handset from Samsung as well — the key here being this little guy reportedly sports WiMAX and CDMA. Could this secret Sammy be the tri-mode WiMAX/WiFi/CDMA handset we heard about earlier this month? We sure hope so.

Hopefully they can get the tri-mode handset out soon. Sprint the underdog is making a comeback.

I’ll be interested in the chipset in that puppy. I’ve got Clear in PDX – signal penetration indoors is really hit-and-miss unless you’re near a window. The penetration thing, and the different frequencies of WiMax around the US along – PDX is on the 3500 flavor that Baltimore isn’t on…

I think that curve at the bottom is horrible. I want flat in my pocket, not flat with a bulky upturn

Sprint will FINALLY have it all. WebOs, WinMo, Android, RIM. I doubt sprint will have Exclusivity in the US but maybe they can have that with the samsung Model.

This is Great news. I was wondering what Sprint had up its sleeve in Q4 after i saw the Roadmap. But it DID mention Android/Google. Now if only this and a CDMA Curve 8900 can come out by the Holidays.

Who has money that VZW will slap Sprint in the mouth like it normally does? Though this is a really nice looking phone, how does the Moto Calgary stand-up next to this one?

Although I’m not holding my breath for an Android handset, or an unconfirmed rumor, I do hope this comes true if only to shut up those idiots (mainly VZW) that constantly talk shit about Sprint. I get it, I have Sprint, and while they don’t have the 3G footprint that Verizon does, everything else works fine. I’m not even interested in ever buying this phone at all (give me the TOUR!), but I pray to god it actually comes out. Did I mention I’m tired of hearing that clown whining about how great Verizon is and how terrible Sprint is? SUCK IT VZW

I have a ~20Mb connection at home, but that doesn’t mean pages load much faster on my G1 on WiFi than on 3g. Its not the browser either; phones need atom processors, or more. Atom processors only cost $30… who wouldn’t pay an extra $30 over your regular cost of a phone to have a 1.6GHz proc? And that’s assuming NOT buying the 528MHz won’t save anything.

Ouch, someone has been picked on to many times! My experience with Sprint has been, I do not have good service in either Phoenix or Chicago.

If you noticed, Sprint’s Twitter & HTC Hero’s FB page have been getting alot of requests & suggestions towards a possible adoption so maybe Sprint is listening. I hope so anyway. BTW why are people still talking crap about Sprint Customer service? Get over it, its not bad anymore & from my experience, its better than Verizon & insurance is better than AT&T. Hell I was able to negotiate a cheaper bill & some freebies (thank you Account Services & Retentions, Google them, best teleco CS in the U.S.) VZW would laugh in your face, callin CS & asking for custom/cheaper perks. VZW isn’t bad, neither is Sprint.
