Motorola and AT&T announce the Karma QA1

Life’s a bitch and so is karma, but AT&T is hoping to change that with the Motorola Karma QA1. A goofy looking dumb phone that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Somerset, the Karma is a media-centric device that has home screen access to both Facebook and MySpace as well as support for email, IM, MMS and threaded SMS. In terms of hardware, the quad-band EDGE/dual-band HSDPA Karma packs a sliding QWERTY keypad, 2.5-inch QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 3.5mm headphone jack and 100MB of internal memory with microSDHC support (up to 16GB). The Karma will be available online and in AT&T stores on the 28th of this month for $79.99 on a 2-year deal after a $50 mail-in rebate. Any takers?

This thing freaking rocks! Look at that killer design. At least there is no way this would take anything from Apple at AT&T

Kinda homely, but what do you want for an $80 phone? Nice mulimedia dumbphone for texting tweens. Plus it will do mms messaging (threaded), flash photography and expands with micro sd cards…can you think of any priceier trendoid phones that lack those basic capabilities? Hmmm, think realy hard…..

    LOL @ hold the mayo

I’d have to agree it is ugly. I used to like motorcycle back when I had the V710 and E815 for Verizon. Now I don’t even remember their last phone that intrigued me.

The ONLY way this thing sells is if it’s dirt cheap. Who is designing their stuff these days? They should all be taken out back and beaten about the head and shoulders with a stick.

    It’s a 3G icon! HAHA!

It’s a $79 phone that will be $50 in a couple of months so relax. This is an entry level texting phone for teens. If if were up to all of you, everyone would just make iPhone knock offs.

It’s a lot less interesting without Android or Windows Mobile. Oh well–it could have beaten the Samsung i640 style devices hands down with the inclusion of a smart operating system since they were thoughtful enough to include usb and 3.5mm jack, something that Samsung has yet to do with any smartphone.
