Wildly popular Samsung Jet breaks the two million mark for pre-orders

Think one million is impressive? Samsung announced this morning that pre-orders for its recently announced Jet handset have topped the two million mark — the highest volume pre-order in the Korean company’s history. The Jet is a well-rounded device with a 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, new TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA (3.6Mbps) 900/1200, full HTML Dolfin Web browser, 5 megapixel camera, GPS, DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology, DivX and XviD video support and Microsoft Exchange support. With all that punch packed into a sexy little package, it’s no wonder pre-orders are coming in like crazy. The Jet is slated to launch later this month in 50 countries worldwide. Anyone excited enough to take the plunge and push Samsung towards the 3 million mark?

This is not a WM phone. It’s a feature phone with Samsung proprietary OS + TouchWiz 2.0 UI on top. It’s similar to the T-Mobile US branded Samsung Behold (T919) and Memoir (T929) except these two have TouchWiz 1.0 UI.

The iPhone is only successful because the gangsters at ATT are blocking all other devices that are any better but where they don’t make so much money.

Please, let’s do someclass action lawsuit!

How’s VZW getting the phone when it’s GSM? Duh!

As far as I can tell from that website, they are trying to obfuscate the fact that it is WinMo. Everything in the specs point to A Touchwiz skin over Windows Mobile. How did you determine definitely from that site that it was absolutely not Min Mo?

Gosh darn it. I foroget Boy Genius runs retarded comments where ‘Reply’ doesn’t actually reply to the comment you’re trying to reply to.

Samsung touchwiz is actually rather nice if you don’t do the smartphone thing.

No comment on WinMo Vs Not WinMo. Someone google that crap already.

    Jeremiah says:

IT IS NOT WINDOWS MOBILE. That’s reserved for the Omnia family. It is simply TouchWiz, like the Behold, Eternity, Memoir, etc., except with the newer 2.0 version.

It’s big feature is having smartphone features like multi-tasking and Exchange support–without actually having a smartphone OS.

Terry is tied with Keith for most-unattractive names… evvvvvvvvva!

Also (and this should concern fanbois), anyone notice the number of truly ugly people with iPhones? Every ugly person I see has one. For some reason, attractive people all have Curves and Bolds…..

If this comes to VZW, I will pause an extra few moments before I buy my pre.

I think there are going to be 2 million disappointed people, when they finally realize they don’t have an app store (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Symbian, WebOS, WinMo, etc.), to enhance the functionality of their device.

Hopefully, the days of proprietary OSes will soon come to an end.

    greenpaz says:

“When BGR and others were reporting about how Apple sold through all of their pre-orders, I dont remember some outcry about how those were all going to fake people.”

Because, I don’t know, maybe they were going to wind up in the hands of real people?

Plus, Apple’s rollout equals 125,000 orders per country. Samsung’s is 40,000 orders per country.

Step away from the I-Hate-Apple Kool-Aid, people.
