Wildly popular Samsung Jet breaks the two million mark for pre-orders

Think one million is impressive? Samsung announced this morning that pre-orders for its recently announced Jet handset have topped the two million mark — the highest volume pre-order in the Korean company’s history. The Jet is a well-rounded device with a 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, new TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA (3.6Mbps) 900/1200, full HTML Dolfin Web browser, 5 megapixel camera, GPS, DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology, DivX and XviD video support and Microsoft Exchange support. With all that punch packed into a sexy little package, it’s no wonder pre-orders are coming in like crazy. The Jet is slated to launch later this month in 50 countries worldwide. Anyone excited enough to take the plunge and push Samsung towards the 3 million mark?

After seeing the specs I have to say that this is the longest I have ever thought about going back to a WinMo device.

    A whole 6 seconds.

The article is wrong, it is not a WinMo phone at all.

Right off the Jet website when it mentions Exchange support it says: “With Microsoft Exchange ActiveSyn in a non-Smartphone for the first time, the Jet offers a new level of convenience.”

I’ve used WinMo and I can definatly say…any OS is better. It allows you to do everything, very very slowly and painfully…I rather have the limited iphone OS that does what little it can, very well. Even the Nokia S60 I find is alot more usable than WinMo

I will go back to Blackberry or nokia before I touch a WinMo phone again. I like things to open in less than a minute.

If you’ve ever seen the Samsung Eternity you would recognize the “Jet” as a non smartphone device.
But if I wasn’t useing a smartphone I’d definitely use the Eternity, I like its interface even though I don’t like full touch..

This is NOT a WinMo device, it’s running Samsung’s proprietary os touchwiz 2.0. the same skin running on top WinMo on the Omnia II, if you notice at the top bar there is no WinMo start key found in all WinMo phones

The painfully obvious point about pre-orders that Boy Genius somehow forget to mention…1 million iPhones were sold this weekend to actual people. The supposed 2 million pre-orders is to phone companies globally not to individual users. When this sells 1 million in one weekend to individuals then I’ll be impressed but we all know that ain’t happening.

As a dumbphone this isn’t bad at all but it’s a pale shadow compared to the iPhone 3 GS and its capabilities + application library.

Keyword: skin. This is WINMO. Its just skinned, just like HTC does with its interface. I’m guessing they improved on alot of things with the interface.

    Its still has WINMO. Period.

When BGR and others were reporting about how Apple sold through all of their pre-orders, I dont remember some outcry about how those were all going to fake people.

And #2 how do you know who the pre-order are going to anyway?

“When this sells 1 million in one weekend to individuals then I’ll be impressed but we all know that ain’t happening.”

So in other words you’re so pissed off at some company other than Apple, having a lot of interest in there device, you got to try to move the measuring stick so that you can try to make Apple look good.

“As a dumbphone this isn’t bad at all but it’s a pale shadow compared to the iPhone 3 GS and its capabilities + application library.”

Translation: I’m just a mindless Apple drone. Dont think different from me!

WinMo…No WinMo..WinMo..No WinMo… Is it or isnt it??? If its just TouchWiz 2.0, Sammy would have ZERO reason to slap a resistive touchscreen on that beautiful AMOLED.
