Complete HTC Ozone specs unearthed
We’ve already given the world its first peek and Verizon’s upcoming HTC Ozone, nailed down its scheduled availability of June 29th/July 13th and pegged its pricing at $49.99 after MIR, but we’re not done yet because two of our VZW ninjas just hit us up with the complete spec list for the device — and plenty more. Just as we suspected, the Ozone features EV-DO Rev. A connectivity in addition to quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. We’re also pleased to report that the GPS chip is not shackled to VZ Navigator and that Verizon will allow users to use the device as a tethered modem (for a fee of course). Hit the jump for the rest of the specs along with a sizable Ozone deck.
Thanks, anonymous and indelus!

First! Can’t wait for this phone!
at least it’s thin. OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE!?!
Looks someone stepped on a centro and put WM on it..
Maybe I missed it, will it be upgradable to WinMo 6.5 ?
@ian no. ORD!?!
Its okay. VZW trying to increase their World Phone line-up to stick it to At&t. At&t likes to promote their world wide capabilities, but that can’t be nearly the money maker that their stateside business is. I can’t see a very large percentage of their base actually using their phones away from the US, but that’s all I hear from Att lately. I think they should work on their network stateside before they gloat globally. VZW can rub their noses in it a bit with a decent selection of World Phones (tuh tuh tuh). Happy Monday.
@grr
The article states June 29th online, and in stores July 13th.
I was so looking forward to this device as a replacement for my Q9c.. but no flash on the camera is a deal breaker for me I am afraid..
Seriously, your VZW ninjas can dig up all this info on the Snap, but can’t give a shred of detail for the Touch Pro2.
@mobileswitch i know. i want a date for the TOUR. OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE!?!
Ugh. Windows Mobile clone of a cross between a Moto Q and a Blackberry? No thanks. Windows Mobile is a showstopper period.
Ozone is 6.5 upgradeable(per HTC)
Touch Pro 2 is still too far out for details like this. It will be after the Tour launches.
@ Terry | When was the last time you used WM for more than say 5 minutes? I would much rather have this, than the larger/heavier Tour, with it’s lesser RAM and locked down OS. Haven’t found a problem with my WM devices in the past 3 years, that a trip to xda wouldn’t fix. The reason BB, Moto, and Apple don’t have those problems, is because it’s like having an OS in a bubble.
@ Yums | I’m not looking for this type of detailed info for the Touch Pro2, any info would be nice. Even an expected month from one of these ninjas would be sufficient.

Oh yeah, and leaked slides for the Ozone say 192MB of RAM, while the article says 128MB.
I think what I like most about this info, is the fact that this device is really being released across multiple carriers without any significantly earlier release on any given carrier. In the past, one carrier would have gotten this three months before anyone else. Hopefully a trend that will continue with HTC devices, and I don’t blame them. Hit the mass market.
On Verizon had and masterd Palm Treo 700WX and vibrator died uograded to Samsung Omnia have had a lot of latency issues and just can not get use to it, big hands and fingers seriously considering IPhone everyone that has one I aske says they love it…It seems the US is still behind Europe where you buy phone SIM and charge with whatever carrier there are pros and cons to both IPhone and WM. Will HTC Ozone be a better option for me? can it be upgraded from 6.1 to 6.5 and what does that mean?
Wow… these are some very detailed tech specs for the Ozone. I think this and some other related phones (Snap, etc) are really starting to surface. I have noticed these specific windows mobile phones appear to be targeting blackberry users. Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
do u need to have internate on the phone when u buy it from verizon
I spoke with a Verizon rep yesterday. The Ozone will require a data plan. This is new for Verizon. They have one at $30 month if not using corporate servers like MS Exchange. Hope this helps.
Just got the phone yesterday. I had a 2005 LV6700 and couldn’t find anything I liked as much or would do as much. This is fantastic. Easy to read home page. Interfaces with Outlook and has word mobile. Yahoo. It’s light and sleek and easier to type on than I thought since I was used to a full qwertyboard that slid out from device. So far..LOVE IT!Fast internet connections and completely user friendly.
Had this device 5 days now. Replaced Samsung Saga which I hated, Palm Treo 700wx is my favorite device I’ve used. Glad to hear this will be upgradeable to WM 6.5. I thought I might miss the touchscreen but no, it’s nice not having issue of accidentally hitting a button on the screen trying to get it in my pocket.
The physical design, weight, buttons, all fantastic. Very sleek. Software layout should be smarter though (Palm is master of this with WM version of Treo). Examples of minor annoyances: 1. when sending a new SMS from Menu-New- text message listed as 3rd option after picture message and video message requiring extra navigation for common txt. 2. When predictive text is enabled for SMS and email it also predicts dictionary words in the TO: field rather than pulling from contacts. With predictive text disabled, suggests names from contacts as it should. 3.) Just one hardware design complaint, zero is a FN key on primary SYM key rather than being the primary key function.
Call quality is great. I’m still exploring and learning shortcuts so I won’t address things that I may have simply not figured out how to configure just yet.
Sounds like we have the same taste in phones, I went from a treo 700p, treo 700wx, then to omnia and hated the touch. took too much effort to accomplish simple task. Purchased the Ozone last week and have simply loved it. It has been absolutely everything i could ask for.
I’ll be getting my Ozone shortly. I was kind of bummed it didn’t have a flash, but if that’s all I am bummed about, I am doing pretty good, right? I can’t wait to get started on figuring out all the cool features.
i just had to replace my Motorola 9qc and really did not want to spend a ton of $ on a new smartphone (I am holding out for Verizon’s iPhone in 2010 *i have faith)
I ended up getting this HTZ Ozone for free and I am in love with it. I cannot believe it is such a good phone and so cheap.
As for the camera- it takes way better pics than the Moto q9c (which had a flash)
all in all great deal
Just got the Ozone today and love it. ,I went from a xv68oo and was worried about the qwerty keyboard, but it seems to be working out well. I really don’t understand why people hate windows.I have had window phones for a few years now and love them.
i used to have the Samsung Omnia and when I would send email that phone would not automatically pull up contacts. Does the Ozone suggest names from your contacts when sending email?
Yes, the Ozone does make contact suggestions for emails, texts and calls. It is also voice command.
