WSJ: Steve Jobs had a liver transplant two months ago
Gentlemen, they can rebuild him. They have the technology. According to today’s The Wall Street Journal, Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs went under the knife approximately two months ago in a Tennessee hospital and received a liver transplant. Why? The Journal speculates that the pancreatic cancer Jobs was diagnosed with in 2004 had slowly but surely spread to his liver, an occurrence which is by no means uncommon for those who have had pancreatic cancer. Seeing as the talk of cancer spreading to Jobs’ liver is nothing but an unsubstantiated rumor at this point in time, it really makes us wonder — shareholders rights or the right to privacy? Either way, we wish Jobs a speedy recovery.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

a live transplant? liver maybe?
Can you say typo?

We wish Mr. Jobs a speedy recovery so that when Verizon gets the iPhone its all business.
“William Hawkins, a doctor specializing in pancreatic and gastrointestinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., said that the type of slow-growing pancreatic tumor Mr. Jobs had will commonly metastasize in another organ during a patient’s lifetime, and that the organ is usually the liver. ‘All total, 75% of patients are going to have the disease spread over the course of their life,’ said Dr. Hawkins, who has not treated Mr. Jobs,” Kane and Lublin report. “Getting a liver transplant to treat a metastasized neuroendocrine tumor is controversial because livers are scarce and the surgery’s efficacy as a cure hasn’t been proved, Dr. Hawkins added. He said that patients whose tumors have metastasized can live for as many as 10 years without any treatment so it is hard to determine how successful a transplant has been in curing the disease.”
@Chris: Bettiol isn’t exactly the sharpest instrument in the tray (if you get what I’m sayin’)
Get well soon, Steve
That’s pretty serious!
First of all i wish a speedy recovery for Steve. We still need him to show us some gr8 products.
Secondly i hope this is not again marketting gimic from you all bloggers to get the sympathy for iPhone sales ( i mean to increase the sales of Iphone which were not as expected ), otherwise what was the reason Apple gave this news to the press today. This was two months old news.
This is really private information that should of never made it to the media. I find it really sad that people write about peoples personal lives like its their own.
@ MP – Its a good thing then we have free speach rights that even protect your right to spew this crap. Steve is a public figure by choice and more improtaintly his health is a financial factor for Apple and investors have an absolute legal right to know ANYTHING that could affect their investment. Moreover Steve is duty bound to disclose it.
Anybody in a high level leadership position MUST disclose their medical condition. Unless, of course, you live in a communist country. It is only fair to shareholders of a corporation or voters in an election. The Preisdent of the United States gets an annual check-up and those results are released to the public.
Good points and I do agree on what you guys are saying. From that perspective, it makes sense. I was looking at it from a different angle.
He and Elvis have been spotted together in Memphis. Elvis is carrying an Apple “TouchBook”, and Steve has a shiny new liver. Hey, it’s possible.
I feel like this is par-for-the-course for Apple of late. I used to respect the living daylights out of Apple, but some of their more recent decisions made me realize they are just another company out to make profits, not revolutionize the world by providing computers and mobile phones.
I want to know: What else is Apple/Jobs hidding?
I have to wonder: What is Apple hidding?
oldest hippie alive?
I am no fan of Apple. Quite the opposite actually, and it’s funny how a lot of people react to this news.
I wish you the best, a speedy recovery, so that you can enjoy your life and all the money you have rightfully earned.
Jobs is a business genius, and, at the same time, a fun character to be around. Get well soon, and don’t work too much.
You know how I know you’re an Apple fanboy? You post change logs of the products AND the owner of the company.
Notwithstanding, I hope he recovers quickly.
My one serious post of the week… Hope is gets better… No one one should have to go through that

The 2 most vicious ways to die? Pancreatic cancer and fire. Ask any highly credentialed medical professional.
People need to remove the vitriol, take a step back and get some responsible perspective.
The face of all that is evil and wrong with the world today, ladies and gentalmen…
LMAO, someone just realized that Apple is a for profit company! Lol…thanks I needed that
Maybe now he will realize the importance of an easily replaceable battery.
Money can buy medicine, but it CANNOT buy good health…
I do not think he is coming back, and I give him 3 months to 9 months. I hope I am wrong, but once cancer starts spreading like that, there is not much hope.
I concur! HIPAA should apply to the media.
