Jailbreak your iPhone OS 3.0 device, 3G S owners need not apply

The iPhone Dev Team updated its blog to include full instructions on jailbreaking your iPhone OS 3.0 device using redsn0w — the multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking tool. Redsn0w only supports the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), iPhone 3G and the iPod touch (first and second generation) for the time being. The latest iPhone 3G S is not yet supported for jailbreaking or unlocking so don’t try to use it on your brand new phone! Jailbreaking is supported across all devices running OS 3.0, except for the 3G S, and unlocking is only available for the iPhone 2G. 3G owners need to wait for the upcoming ultrasn0w to be released in order to unlock their OS 3.0 devices. Head over to the dev team blog for the appropriate torrent files and instructions.

    @storm sucks,

Can your berry copy an article, say from BGR, paste it into an e-mail and keep it in the same format (bullets and indentations) and keep the links? Oh, and also copy and paste the picture, headline and even an add? Let me know when it can do that. Thanks!

So question, I haven’t updated my touch yet but is there anyway for me to get 3.0 without loosing all my jailbroken apps? That’s the one thing im confused on. I have all my stuff organized into folders and I really don’t want to have to reogranize all my apps. Or is my only option to update through itunes and then rejailbreak?

amazing this article is about developers and their progress with unlocking a phone to a variety of carriers and software not if the iphone sucks or that blackberry had these features for eight years!
    PS
IF BLACKBERRY IS SOOOO ADVANCED AND HAS THESE FEATURES FOR 8 YEARS THEN WHY DID THEY CREATE THE BIGGEST FLOP OF DONKEY DICK CALLED THE “STORM” WITH THEIR ASS BACKWARDS COCK PRESS SCREEN!! AND BETWEEEN NOKIA AND RIM THEY HAVE LOST OVER 30% OF THEIR MARKET SHARE TO A COMPANY THAT HAS ONLY MADE ONE PHONE A YEAR FOR THREE YEARS!!

    RIDDLE ME THAT

Uhm you are incorrect fanboy. Do a google on RIM results and performance and you’ll find that in fact the IPHONE has lost market share in the smartphone segment from 30% to 19.5%. Your bassackwards which being the Apple schill that you seem to be, isn’t surprsing.

“With all the excitement and hype around the iPhone these days, one might assume that Apple is dominating the smart phone market. But that’s not the case. The iPhone does control 19.5 percent of the US smart phone market, but that figure is down from the 30 percent market share it enjoyed in the third quarter of 2008. Today, RIM’s BlackBerry controls the market with over 55 percent market share. And that figure is up, dramatically, from the 40.4 percent it owned in Q3 2008. RIM is riding BlackBerry success in a way that is starkly different from Apple: quietly. The company just announced the BlackBerry Tour, yet another new model that you’ve probably never heard of. But BlackBerry is successful even in the face of relentless Apple hype and marketing for very pragmatic reasons: price, choice, and availability. Customers can find at least one BlackBerry device at virtually any wireless carrier, unlike with the iPhone, because Apple draws up exclusive contracts with single vendors in most markets. And RIM’s devices are often much less expensive than Apple’s. (Verizon even offers a “buy one, get one free” offer with the BlackBerry.) Even AT&T—Apple’s exclusive iPhone carrier in the United States—has as many BlackBerry users as iPhone users.
Worldwide, the picture changes quite a bit, but not for Apple. Outside the United States, Nokia controls 41 percent of the worldwide smart phone market, compared with 20 percent for RIM. But Apple’s share is just half of RIM’s and is still behind that of Windows Mobile.”

@scott…send me a mms of anything…oh wait you can’t…apple finally supports it (after 3 years) but at&t doesn’t. Let me know when you can do that! Thanks – posted from my craptastic phone that can do everything and more the iphone can!

If i was off with my figures i will give you that, it was an estimate and based on the numbers you gave me i wasn’t too much far off for someone that ballparked the numbers and didn’t do a google search. The fact remains that the company was laughed at when they were introducing an idea about doing a phone and now they are laughing straight to the bank with shares trading at about 140. At the end of the day they set the bar for everyone that creates a phone . RIM has been around for eight years now all of sudden they are getting around to creating a app store or should i say app world. And other companies like palm recently are toying with their own app store. I am not even going to comment on Windows Mobile I would rank it at the same level as vista…garbage!!

    Ryan,
I do love the word TOOL, i call everybody that but on a side note Apple only makes one phone if they gave you every single feature under the son you would have no reason to upgrade. for the most part blackberries have all the same features granted keyboards smaller, megapixels less but you are getting the same crap in every phone but the phsysical features are different while software and specs are close. Apple has one phone one body 2 colors and to get people to upgrade it is for features compass, video recorder stereo blue tooth. It is a different direction from other cell phone makers but I dont think you can argue so far it is working for them.

Check the iPhone sales. Everything is better in a iPhone. No matter who had it first. It’s how future apps will add those features to them.

Talking about market share…. How can apple compete when they sell only one type of phone, when there are tons of different blackberry phones out there… Plus, verizon was selling buy one get one free for a few phones which included 2 blackberry phones for 2 or 3 months… You have to admit that apple is kicking some ass selling one phone and still controlling almost 20% of the smartphone market… That’s amazing.
1 company 1 phone vs. Many companies and many many phones… Gee, they must be doing something right.

Like the way the phans are unable to accept issues with their precious phones and instead want to argue about how popular icheese is because all the other kids at school have them?

for real fun check the dev team blog comments…lots of angry spoiled demanding children, including a bunch who have bricked their phones! Here’s a thought about one of the 3gs improvements apple didn’t tell folks about…built in jailbreak protection? Wow phans, enjoy your compass…

All I have to say is that the iPhone’s ideas are going to be the future phones! If u look at what their doing and how they are doing it, it just makes sense! And yes they are not on top as of rite now because it took them so long to make their phones have the standards that most phones have today because alot of people wasn’t ready for the change and they should of had this stuff already availible! But it’s about being different and about being hard to compete with! U don’t have to like the iPhone but for them to have around 20% of smart phones and only competing with one phone! That’s crazy! I am not a genius about this stuff but I do no when something is worth hanging on to! Remember this: technology is coming and alot of fones do the same thing but the iPhone is in a class by itself! Sooner or later those same phones that everybody has alike will be trading theirs in for an apple! Look at the new iPhone 3GS! It may not offer alot no u now but look at what they are doing! With apple the future Is now or at least they are working on it!
