IPhone 3G S plagued by sound issues?

Are you enjoying your brand new iPhone 3G S? Did you get a 16GB or a 32GB? Well, that won’t matter if people are experiencing what we are. There seems to a problem with sound files on the 3G S and the result after they’re triggered. After they are done playing — like the unlock sound, SMS sound, for instance — the iPhone emits a high-frequency tone. No, we’re not kidding. Something pretty high around 15KHz. We’ve confirmed this isn’t a local isolated issue with our phone, and since some people can’t hear these types of high-pitched tones, your iPhone might produce it yet you’d never notice.
We’re 99% sure it’s software related because if you set the phone to vibrate, big surprise, no high-pitched tone. So, anyone out there experiencing this? It’s amazing this was skipped over in the many reviews published, but oh well. Hopefully Apple fixes it soon because this is kind of painful and pretty outrageous. Hit us up and let us know!

I can’t hear it on mine, it may be out of my range though.
Thats funny. This is my first iphone and I thought it was normal for the iphone or gsm. I do hear it.
2nd
if we can’t hear it, any other way to check?
My ears can pick up a 15 KHz sound (http://ia301125.us.archive.org/0/items/15kHz_tone/15kHz_audacity.wav)
And my iPhone 3GS does *not* make the sound after any lock clicks or sms messages.
Can you hear this? http://ia301125.us.archive.org/0/items/15kHz_tone/15kHz_audacity.wav
Oh crap! NM. Mine does make the sound. It’s lower than 15 MHz tho, and it’s VERY faint. You have to hold you ear up to the iPhone speaker to hear it.
Almost sounds like a soft fan running at first, and it lasts about 3 seconds AFTER the “click/unlock” sound finishes.
mine does it.. it annoying.. I can hear it loud and clear..
I dun really know anything about pitch frequencies or anything, but is this noise bad for your ears regardless of whether you hear it or not? If’s not a health issue, I don’t see why Apple would be in a rush to fix it.
No problem with mine. Sorry.
Regards – Jim
maybe i’m trippin but i dont hear it.
It’s teh apple mind control carrier wave – the gain was accidentally cranked up to high in the firmware.
Accept the latest itunes upgrade and you’re all set.
Of course your AT&T bill goes up and you get a shload of songs you didn’t want but hey – you gots a 3GS so quit bitch’n
I tried that link and that sound is annoying thankfully mine does NOT make that sound, I wonder if that will affect my dogs of I play that sound next to them.

My hearing is shot above 4K anyway so I couldn’t care less. Bad attitude I know, but I’m just giddy to have an iPhone after a 2 year wait.
Got me my first iPhone yesterday, a black 32gig 3GS. So far so good, it’s an excellent phone and I’ve no real problems with it (touch wood).
The only slight irritation is the network coverage of o2 which is a bit sporadic, flipping between 3G and Edge even at times when I’m not moving…
Yeah… I’m gonna wait for the patch before lining up for this PoS… No sense in giving myself a headache every time a sound plays.
I have good hearing… Especially higher frequencies… Often hear stuff others don’t and knock on wood my 3GS doesn’t seem to have this issue… Of course I’ve yet to encounter any dogs…
But so far so good… The 3GS is Rockin’ !!!!
