IPhone 3G S plagued by sound issues?

Are you enjoying your brand new iPhone 3G S? Did you get a 16GB or a 32GB? Well, that won’t matter if people are experiencing what we are. There seems to a problem with sound files on the 3G S and the result after they’re triggered. After they are done playing — like the unlock sound, SMS sound, for instance — the iPhone emits a high-frequency tone. No, we’re not kidding. Something pretty high around 15KHz. We’ve confirmed this isn’t a local isolated issue with our phone, and since some people can’t hear these types of high-pitched tones, your iPhone might produce it yet you’d never notice.
We’re 99% sure it’s software related because if you set the phone to vibrate, big surprise, no high-pitched tone. So, anyone out there experiencing this? It’s amazing this was skipped over in the many reviews published, but oh well. Hopefully Apple fixes it soon because this is kind of painful and pretty outrageous. Hit us up and let us know!

I have this same problem.
I just recently purchased the phone… and after I would get mail or something I would hear the ringing. At first, I thought it was just my ears ringing, but it repeated several times. So the next time it happened, I put my finger over the speaker, and alas… the sound became muffled/inaudible. I hope a fix comes out for his soon =(
I have this buzzing/whining problem and so does everybody I know who owns a 3GS no matter if it is 32 gig or 16 gig.
Mine happens after every text message, during video recordings, and when you put the phone to sleep.
When in silent mode the problem does not occur.
I hope APPLE fixes this soon!!!
i hear mine when its on and off vibrate even when its on the home screen. and when i shake it i hear something rattling around…. anyone know what it is?
My problem is the opposite, at times after watching YouTube , or Tv.com video, I cannot hear the notification sounds for SMS, the click for locking and unlocking, or emails. I have to power my phone off to hear a sound again.
Yes, I have experienced the same problem, I have 3gs 32g, I usually just power my phone off and power it back on
I just wanted to say that I held off on buying my 32GB 3GS because of this, and I’ve had it for a few weeks and haven’t noticed any sounds. And I have a sensitive ear. Really, just don’t try to find flaws. Enjoy your amazing phone and have patience.
I am 65 years old and I can hear a definite whine on my 32GB 3GS in video recordings. Yes, it is a wonderful machine, but this is a problem that needs to be addressed. We are not trying to find flaws. We just want Apple to realize the problem is there and to fix it.
Yup same problem here, it’s getting quiet annoying now tbh, here’s hopin for a fix!!!!
This problem occurred with mine when I used Pandora…shut it down…then tried to watch a movie trailer using Flixster…
Sound was gone when I sychned it with my PC. I was going to do a “Restore” from iTunes when my phone was docked…but was not necessary.
well i have this, u are typing and suddenly clicks are gone then back real quiet, then gone. hate this. no one seems to know how to fix it. 3gs, 3.1 new phone. just started. also if voice correction starts then clicks are gone.
Wahooo!!!, high pitched whine fixed in 3.1. Well masked anyway. Not bad considering Apple never acknowledged it as a problem
3.1 did mask it. But there is still a problem with the speaker being on longer then it needs to be after certain sounds are emitted. Booo!!!
I have iphone 3gs 32 gb white. I heard annoying hiss during calls. I used to ask people are you on Motorway? Or is it windy there? because of the noise I heard. Then I realised it was my phone. My phone was replaced when I went to apple store but the same problem with new handset. The staff denied any knowledge about sound issues on phone but I am going to show them this website when I visit them next.
