LG Tritan officially lands at U.S. Cellular

The LG Tritan was rumored to launch in June on U.S. Cellular and starting today it is officially available. The Tritan features a 3-inch QVGA touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, full HTML browser, 3G connectivity, music player, G sensor, Bluetooth and a 3 megapixel camera. Pricing details are still elusive, oddly, but expect it to be under $100 after rebate. Hit the jump for the full press release.

SAN DIEGO and CHICAGO, June 19

LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) and U.S. Cellular today announced the all new LG Tritan(TM). Customers can now enjoy a 3″ full touch-screen and sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3.0 mega-pixel camera and camcorder and 3G network speed all in one sleek wireless handset.

LG Tritan incorporates all the best of today’s mobile technology, utilizing a next generation user interface and a large 3″ touch screen with tactile feed-back. Its sturdy form factor and swift touch screen slides out to reveal a 4-line QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy messaging.

Users can tune-in to premium stereo sound from the music player via headset or Bluetooth(R) wireless technology. LG Tritan comes packed with a 3 megapixel camera and camcorder allowing users on the go to take high quality close-ups of friends and family. The phone supports up to a 16GB microSD card that is great for expanding the memory space for pictures, music and videos.

“LG Tritan is the best of both worlds – A sturdy full QWERTY keyboard and responsive touch screen,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, vice president of product strategy and marketing for LG Mobile Phones. “U.S. Cellular and LG came together to deliver a wide range of assets in this handset.”

“LG Tritan’s built in browser gives our customers the convenience of quickly accessing the Web and downloading content,” said Alan D. Ferber, Chief Marketing Officer at U.S. Cellular. “Customers also have a choice between using the full touch screen or the QWERTY slide out keypad for texting or while on the Web.”

By including easyedge(SM), U.S. Cellular’s suite of enhanced wireless data application services, LG Tritan allows customers to send and receive e-mails and provides access to news and weather applications, games and hundreds of other useful applications. The phone also comes preloaded with Your Navigator, which provides voice turn-by-turn directions and a mobile browser.

LG Tritan is available at U.S. Cellular retail locations, or via www.uscellular.com.

Well I ended up buying the LG Tritan. Its okay, still miss my samsung delve though. I did try out a blackberry curve but wasnt impressed with the small keyboard, and the camera quality.

I have a technical question about the Tritan. I was thinking of purchasing a new stereo, and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could listen to music from this phone on the stereo through bluetooth, or a cable that would connect to the stereo? Any information would be appreciated.

i work for us cellular and i personally own this phone…it ROCKS by us cellular standards. As for the g1 “bastard child” quips…my roomate owns that phone and theyre two different models..that “chin that the g1 has is annoying the the respect that it tilts up…the g1 doesnt do this….besides, you HAVE to have that if youre going to offer physical keys on a phone such as talk send and back ..(where else would they go??) i know that us cellular sucks in the ways of having phones but thats only because companies like verizon and att strike deals with companies like LG and Motorola that makes certain phones exclusive to their network. so its not exactly our fault that we dont have cool phones..besides, half of the myriad of phones on other networks do the EXACT same thing but just look a little different, or has one little difference about it.

Do not get this phone. It has a very short battery life and a pretty crappy touch screen. I also hate that part on the side when texting, it makes my hand hurt.

Anyone else having streaming problems on this phone? Youtube is slow and clunky and when I use their mobile website, the phone screen says it’s buffering but then it will quit and go back to the page I was looking at.

Got the Trian about 3 weeks ago. this is my first “smart phone” having come over from the Razor Vm3. my plan is with US Cell who just upgraded to 3g network 1 week ago.

There are many things on here i never had before. the camera is amazing compared to the 2 megapix from my old Razor. i also think the Tritan is very user friendly and simple.
The navigator is so-so, and Easyedge is a little lame (but i knew that since i’ve been with USCELL for 4 years.) The mobile email i’m still not to sure about. i downloaded the app for my Yahoo mail but i kept noticing my phone was connecting to the network even when i was not using it. i’m assuming it was connecting to Easyedge, which you get charged for, so i took that off. Big deal, i just connect to Yahoo mail through my browser.
Some negatives with the phone. 3 times it has completely frozen up on me. twice while on the internet and once when i went to make a call. even trying to turn it off would not work. i had to call myself from my house phone to get it to unfreeze. Also, as people have said, the battery life is kind of weak. I use to charge my Razor once a week, the Tritan is nightly. but then again i did not text or have a browser on the Razor.
all in all i like it. it’s very easy to use for my first phone with all the gadgets. by the way, my wife as the Blackberry Curve she uses my Tritan most of the time to play around with.

My LG Tritan powers down in the midst of use sometimes! I thought it was just my phone because USCellular has not responded to my questions or concerns! Getting annoyed. The touch screen will also sometimes not ‘unlock’ when you get a text. Tried flipping up to the qwerty pad and then closing. No luck. Does not do the trick. Have to turn off the phone and then reboot it. Anyone have any answers? Or suggestions for other touch phones at US Cellular. Wish they’d get the iPhone.

    to shelley:

My previous phone was also the Moto Q. It was the crappy 1st gen and annoyed the piss out of me and couldnt hold a charge. but at least you could download apps and ringtones on your computer and transfer them.

The Tritan makes that last part more complicated. For apps I have to rely on the vast array of about 4 applications on EasyEdge. You cannot send ringtones to this phone with a cable. You need a micro sd card for that anyway. to my knowledge you have to use either bluetooth or send a MMS.

I think I prefer Windows mobile over these CDMA phones, more customization.
Anyone know if US Celluar is ever gonna get any android phones?
