Happy iPhone 3G S day, boys and girls!

Do you see anyone you know standing in that line? Today is the day to pack up your toys, gadgets and snacks, and head out to Apple/AT&T/Rogers/Fido/Carphone Warehouse or wherever else if you didn’t order your iPhone online to be shipped. After all, it’s either lines today or a test of patience down the road. Be sure you are well prepared and are up to date on pricing and details on grabbing your iPhone; we wouldn’t want to see anyone turned away after spending an entire morning or afternoon (or both) braving the elements, wherever you are. After all the pics and updates we’ve given you, everything has finally culminated to this moment. Let us know what lines in your area are like — if there even are lines in your area — and how easy or difficult it was to leave the store with your shiny, new iPhone 3G S in hand!

    Yea… so no clue why I did the FedEx Overnight. Sounds like the UPS guys got their paws on one already and I’m still waiting to find Nemo.

    Apple did tell me they are reimbursing the Overnight fees since I was not going to get the thing any sooner than today anyway.

    PS: Dear Bold, I don’t mean to do you like that Avis commercial… “iPhone, your other car…”

    No lines at all in Bethesda, Maryland (two blocks away from Washington DC)- the store a bit more crowded than the regular but that is all. It looked like more people were buying the new Macbook than the iPhone

    @Christopher Cox:

    I am an apple fanboy but you have to have a Pre in your hands and then use it and you will realize that once the phone goes to Verizon, it will sell also like hotcakes.

    How dare you compare the instinct with the Pre? two different animals.

    Arrived at the Apple Store at The Grove in Los Angeles at 6:30 AM. There were already about 150 people in line that had pre-ordered. The line was MUCH more organized this year. They split the line into 3 sections and moved people in groups of 25-30 at a time to get into the store. I had my new iPhone and was on my way to work by 8:00 AM!

    I’m not trying to be offensive to you apple peoples, but one of the legitimate thing that irk me is:

    When the 1st gen iPhone came out, no 3G.
    A year later they come out the 3G version.
    Then a year later they finally add video?

    Wait. I know ppl make fun of the cut&paste and MMS thing… but the previous versions of iPhone didn’t have video? Or am I misunderstanding? I know I could research, but I’m being lazy. So a phone that couldn’t even play videos in the 1st 2 years of its lifecycle is hailed as the end-all be-all of cellular phones? If I was a complete conspiracy nut, I’d almopst accuse Apple of leaving out options so they can add them in a year later to sell more phones.

    Tooner says:

    about 20 people in danbury this morning. A joke – Store sent emails saying 7am and the doors didn’t open until 8am. Then, the idiot manager took 4 people who had not pre-ordered over people who did because all the pre-orders had to go through the person you purchased from. After he was told he was stupid, he made a call then came back out and fixed his stupidity. Now 7 hours later still no activation as AT&T says it could be 3 to 4 days because of backup from all the sales. You cannot make this stuff up.

    @Jamie Botero,

    Any phone that’s decent will sell like hot cakes on VZW because their phone selection blows! The ONLY reason I would ever consider VZW again is if they were to be the only ones next year with the iPhone. And even then, I don’t think I would.

    And Chris was only compairing the hype that both the instinct and pre got.

    I know this may come as a surprise to some people but EVERYONE can get an iPhone. So for all the idiots saying “Your just made because you can’t get one” need to stop being idiots. All you have to do is go to AT&T and get your iPhone, simple. People CHOOSE not to get the iPhone, because they rather stay on the carrier. But if people wanted it so bad believe they would have it and the believe you have wanted it bad enough have got it. So STFU.

    Good thing they waited until most schools had let out for summer so the kids are available for lines. Are you sure that was an iphone line or a jonas brothers ticket line?

    Hmmm, should I list my degrees and titles after my name in a sad attempt to look important like the alleged “cpa” clown? Nah, but since i have a masters degree I’ll instead insist that people address me as “master Scroffy.”

    I Pre-Ordered two iPhone 3GS a 16/32GB in Hammond Louisiana on 06-13-2009. The phones were delivered at the store on 06/18/2009 and of course it wasn’t ready for pick up that day. Picked up my phones today and there was a line of 4 people. The awesome thing about it was those who pre-ordered was put in front of the line which I thought was pretty good. I got at the store at 7AM. I asked the rep how many they received he said we won’t be running out of these phones. I was shocked at that comment because I used to work for at&t wireless 3 months ago. And last year majority of the at&t Corporate retail stores that wasn’t an experience store got 40 phones on release date. Then another batch of 10 came in on Sunday. This year they did a lot better with their orders.

    Wow, I guess I really lucked out since I just spent a total of 11/2 hours only in line and thats because I went early at 4:30am since the apple store opened up at 5:00am at where I live and I enjoyed talking to people with free drinks from the Apple store employees. Even had starbucks ladies take our order while in line. Not bad at all.

    Edit: If people wanted it so bad believe they would have it and the people who wanted it bad enough now have it. Or if your on T mobile get an unlocked one. Its just so juvenile with the You can’t have it na na na. I’m quite frankly sick of this phone. I have a ipod touch and it does everyhing the iPhone does except call and I don’t go crazy over it everyday, I just don’t get it. Sorry.

    I was first in line at Best Buy today, and everything was going quick, until the Geek Squad realized they hadn’t updated their iTunes software to activate my iPhone. WTH?
    The guy behind me was very angry at having to wait. Remember, he was second in line.
