Ok, Canadians, here’s the official skinny on all that is Rogers/Fido’s iPhone 3G S

Over the past few weeks we at BGR have been pestering the folks at Rogers and Fido for information on their iPhone 3G S pricing and policies. Well guess what — they’ve just given us the goods. Hit the jump, because we’re pretty damn sure that you’ll like what you see.
There has been a lot of excitement around the new iPhone 3G S and we wanted to recognize the early adopters who helped make the iPhone the hottest-selling handset in Canadian wireless history. We will be discounting the price of the iPhone 3G S by between $250 and $500 to provide savings to many of our iPhone customers.
What this means is that eligible iPhone owners can acquire the iPhone 16GB 3G S for as low as $199 or the 32GB for as low as $299 until July 31, 2009.
For Fido customers, we’re offering the Fido Rewards iPhone 3G S promotion. This enables iPhone customers to redeem FidoDollars towards a new iPhone 3G S with an additional $100 top-up from Fido.
For customers who don’t qualify for these extra savings, we are pleased to offer Rogers Wireless customers the iPhone at our cost on rogers.com. This cost – $580 for the iPhone 3G, $680 for the iPhone 3G S 16GB and $780 for the iPhone 3G S 32GB – represents the price we pay for the device plus a nominal fee for the SIM card. Customers can access these devices at retail locations for just $19 more for the three devices.
We’re also happy to announce that Rogers and Fido are extending the 6GB/$30 data promotion until July 31. This offer is valid for customers on a new or existing iPhone plan or customers buying an Android-powered HTC Magic or HTC Dream.
Five ways to save
1) For Rogers Wireless customers who bought an iPhone 3G between July 11 and Sept. 30, 2008, and with an average monthly spend of at least $100, Rogers will provide $500 off the cost of an iPhone 3G S. This special offer expires July 31, 2009 and comes with the addition of a one-year term to the customer’s existing service agreement.
· 16GB 3GS $199
· 32GB 3GS $2992) For Rogers Wireless customers who bought an iPhone between July 11 and Dec. 31, 2008, but aren’t eligible for the above offer, Rogers will provide $250 dollars off the purchase of an iPhone 3G S. This special offer expires July 31, 2009 and comes with the addition of a one-year term to the customer’s existing service agreement.
· 16GB 3GS $449
· 32GB 3GS $5493) All Rogers Wireless customers can upgrade to the iPhone 3GS at our cost at Rogers.com, or for a suggested retail price of just $19 more than our cost through our retail channels.
· 8GB 3G $580/$599
· 16GB 3GS $680/$699
· 32GB 3GS $780/$7994) Fido customers can take advantage of the Fido Rewards iPhone 3G S promotion:
· Use FidoDollars towards the purchase of a new iPhone 3G S
· Fido will top up the FidoDollars amount by $100
· This promotion does not include an extension or renewal of their service agreement.5) New and existing iPhone customers can take advantage of a limited-time promotion of 6GB of data for $30, now extended until July 31. Other Rogers and Fido data plans will remain the same, including the only national standalone data plan at $25 per month for 500 MB. We know that this is the right plan for most Canadians – 93 per cent of current iPhone customers on a data plan use less than 500 MB of data per month.

still a rip off!!!
JP Michaels is definitely a bell or telus or virgin employee
Well better than I thought. I would be eligible for the $250 off, which is ok but the extra year really sucks. I think I’ll wait until next year and get the 4g iphone or what ever they call it. I’ll start saving for the no contract model in 2010. The 3gs is just not that big of a update, hope for more next year.
hmmm sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, kinda confusing if your a fido customer, oh wait we arent really worth saying much to as we are the welfare brand of canada. Why doesnt robbers just shoot the dog once and for all.
Seems pretty reasonable to me. Looks like Apple is letting Rogers do all the heavy lifting to give the original iPhone customers a chance to upgrade. And it’s great that the 6GB plan is sticking around for a bit!
Not bad, I was about to buy the iPhone 3Gs outright tomorrow morning from Apple. Now I can put $300 fido dollars towards the handset so this will now save me some money.
this is really confusing
“We know that this is the right plan for most Canadians – 93 per cent of current iPhone customers on a data plan use less than 500 MB of data per month.”
Eat shit, Robbers. They may use less than 500MB, but that’s only because unless they’re lucky enough to get in on the promo for cheap data, they’re not willing to spend 80 fucking dollars per month for 5GB.
Such a terrible wireless company. I hope their entire board of directors and all their high level execs get in a horrible plane crash.
Do canadians actually read this sight?
*site
Yes, a lot of Canadians read this site! I’m Canadian
@Ravnos
Haha that made me laugh, VERY HARSH but wow
Agreed though, they suck ass.
I’m at $93 a month, and think I’m paying way to much. Any one actually paying over $100 a month??
I do agree that the 3G S is not a huge hardware update. I had set myself upon waiting for the next version which looks like it may be a bigger leap considering all the attention ARM and mobile GPU’s have been receiving recently.
I do qualify for the $500 off (first to get a 3G in Fredericton) but I am new to cell plans, can someone tell me if when I ‘upgrade’ do I have to turn in my old device or do I keep it? I may be naive and wishful but if I don’t turn it in during this early upgrade then I am pretty sure a contract free iPhone 3G would fetch me at least $200 on Kijiji.
It is a nice change that Robbers is rewarding loyal customers, that have to put up with their crap, instead of letting AT&T show them up.
Canadians do… and in the Canadian language we spell it SITE. k thanks
Freakin bullshit fido bunch of u know what jack asses cant even offer the same to use fido clients
@ Ravnos
I agree 100%, they say 93% use less well it doesn’t matter how much we use why should we pay $80 for 5GB regardless of usage. they just try to justify it by a dumb non sense excuse. aren’t we all sick of their 3 year contracts and the most expensive plans in the world? even $30/6GB promo is still too much compare to other countries in the state is $15 unlimited. system access fees and many more charges here and there, their free evening minutes start at freaking 9PM!! yes you heard it 9PM!!!! who is going to use the phone at 9PM?? exactly you guessed it 99% won’t because we have to work the next day or go to school. honestly we Canadian should do something about that its getting really bad, I’ve traveled lots and have never seen any mobile companies in the world like Robbers and Bell
Ravnos is one LOCO SOB! Poor Canada!
He corrected himself, right below his first post.
@ unfrozen
if you are upgrading to 3GS, yes you can keep your 3G device or sell it, which I would do if I were you i’m sure if you sell it on Kijiji with a decent price many people will by it from you.
Yes we Canadian do read this “SITE”, remember this is internet and its worldwide, its not just for the U.S only
I’m getting the shaft with Fido! I spend over a $100 a month, have a SAF (cause if you get rid of SAF with Fido you never qualify ever for a HUP) and now I have to pay $459 (after rewards and 100credit) for 3GS when a Rogers customer with same plan gets it for $199??? Rogers just pissed off someone who was a very happy customer until 11min ago.
Canadians, when you say something like 100 dollars a months is that in the Canadian rate or in USD? Just curious.

Rogers really sucks with their prices. I’ll stick with my BlackBerry.
I just spoke to Rogers (in Toronto, Canada) after reading this post and I am eligible for the 250 – 500$ discount. The strangest thing, they said that such a promotion doesn’t exist and will most likely not exist. Not only that the person I was speaking to went as far as to say that this website (BGR) is going to be under investigation because it seems like they are promoting false promotions.
