VZW may not be the cheapest service available, but I can’t count on getting service in the burbs where my work Sprint phone won’t along with AT&T…

And having service with vzw is great value for individuals and families, the difference between my statement and the two previous ones is it comes directly from advertising. If WiMax wasn’t associated with Sprint you all wouldn’t be bashing and vzw would still be looking at EVDO rev.B and EVDV.

I don’t believe there will be problems with speeds on LTE, it’ll just be getting it out and the penetration of the signal. WiMax has the same problems but it’s being rolled out and working, you hear more people extolling it than not

LTE will have slower connectivity rates than WiMax, and also further behind in infrastructure. However, LTE is being rolled out by the big boys, Verizon and AT&T, while, even though Clearwire is owned by Sprint, Google, etc….no one has heard of them. Good news is that the future is near. With cable companies investing in Clearwire, you’ll soon be watching HD tv as well as surf the internet and have your home phone all connected to a wireless network like LTE or WiMax.

WiMAX? Why, indeed! Define “many places”, christ-complex. A CURRENT total of 4 or 5 cities? With a total of another 10 to be added by the end of NEXT year? Enlightened (or dishonest) as usual.

Basically, if you live in a launched market, you may get service while in other markets that haven’t been launched yet because they have service, but haven’t started selling it yet for that particular locale.

Sprint’s WiMax service is live many places, but if it hasn’t been launched in that market, you can’t use it or sign up for it, but subscribers from announced markets can access it in other places, even some which haven’t been announced or launched.

I would ask for Michael or Richard when you go to wimaxatlanta.net….it’s new in Atlanta, but they have been working with the company for 3 years…the staff is very helpful too….2 products for the price of 1 gauranteed.

I called the guys at http://www.wimaxatlanta.net and they explained the whole process to me in just a few minutes on Monday. I received a confirmation email with exactly what they said would happen and I already have my box delivered to me by UPS. It’s so simple.

Got WiMax here in Portland. A Clear guy will be here in an hour or so – blazing speeds 10% of the time, more like dial-up 80% of the time. The other 10%? I can’t connect or the two modems I have are unable to connect or are rebooting. Good stuff? Glad I didn’t sign up for a contract…

Atlanta, don’t succumb to the hype.

I googled Wimax Atlanta and the first result was WimaxAtlanta.net… on that site it says you can get unlimited home and mobile internet for $55 a month. Phone is suppossed to be $25 more. Does it work like that?

Yep. They have booths at all of the major malls now and they’re pushing as hard as they can. The mobile modem is only compatible with Windows for now, though. So, don’t get excited if you have a Mac or Linux machine. They also offer a home phone plan, for people who want to cut the cord completely.
