Between the screen on the Storm and the Hinge on the Pearl flip, I will take any smartphone out there that just feel like crap any day.

Personally, I like the phone and even though I will probably stick with BB and upgrade when the tour comes out from my lowly pearl, I love the fact that so many smart phones are coming out in the next 1-3 months.

I’m actually looking forward to this phone! this might be what samsung needs to bust into the touch market.

the other omni/touch phones i played with were slow and they chucked when dragging and dropping, But now a faster processor and a remodeled interface this combo could get Samsung out of the dumps

Nope – and I’m heading to the launch event in London right now! Wish I’d have read this first and not bothered. If it was Android there would be something to be excited about.

Has anyone checked out the official site for info about the 800MHZ processor? The processor is supposed to be an all in one solution that INCLUDES a powerful 3D graphics accelerator! Not a seperate chip but ONE CHIP!!! If you click on the High Speed Multimedia tab, not only does the 800 Mhz processor produce OpenGL 2.0 graphics, it also states that it can produce a Peak of 9 MILLION polygons a second! That equals serious gaming graphics IF, and only IF the chip becomes a standard. Either way, this means good news for us all because the more phones come with 3D accelerators, the more inclined ALL manufatures will be to add them to their phones.

480p video recording is sounding pretty good to me…

Sammy needs to slow down and think things through. If they utilized a chip like this in all their phones and made a gaming platform/multimedia powerhouse where the software could be used on all their future phones, they would be on the road to jumping a few spots up in the minds of many. Maybe an S-series of phones? :)

Deaconclgi – chasing the future, ever since figuring out that the next step in processors would be a multiplication of a previous step. In the 8-bit era, I was dreaming of a 64bit gaming system….. I am waiting to be fully liberated from my laptop.

    Tegra, where art thou?

Oops, I got excited and didn’t provide the link:

You can skip the intro, click on Jet Technology to the right, click on 800MHZ Application Processor to the lower right, click on High Speed for Multimedia in the bottom portion and take a close look at the processor spec sheet.

    Thanks.

Does the UK model have Wi-Fi? The http://jet.samsungmobile.com/ website doesn’t state anything about this model having it and I emailed Samsung customer services to ask them and I got the reply ‘In response to your email regarding the wi-fi query. We can advise that this handset does not have the option for wi-fi.’ A lot of sites do state that the phone carries Wi-Fi, but none of them are official Samsung sites so I am led to believe different things.

I just watched a ‘real’ video of the Jet, and have to say, what is the point of the 800MHz processor if it can’t even run the OS smoothly like the Pre or iPhone?

If they redesigned the clunky TouchWiz UI to have smooth transitions and effects, then it would be seriously good. Shame, I was liking this phone until I actually saw it for real!
