Samsung Louvre gets spec’d and photographed

Hot on the heels of the first rendering of the Samsung B7610 Louvre comes the first spy photo and some additional specifications on this mid-range offering from Sammy. The Louvre looks even better in person than it does in the rendering and it comes with an increasingly solid set of specs that include:

  • 3.50inch AMOLED 16M color resistive WVGA (800×480) display
  • 800Mhz CPU
  • 5.1 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard
  • 2 UIs (Pro & Media, with a dedicated button to switch between them)
  • TV-out
  • 3.5mm Headphone jack
  • MicroUSB connector
  • Divx/WMV/H.264 accelerations
  • GPS/WIFI/HSDPA/HSUPA/BT
  • FM Radio
  • DNLA support
  • 1GB internal memory + SDHC up to 32G
  • 1500 mAh battery

The Louvre is expected to debut later this summer with Windows Mobile 6.1 and an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 to follow in the September/October 2009 time frame. That is the good news, the bad news is that the current ROM is reportedly running slowly, even on the 800MHz processor. Slow performance may result in a slip of the launch date possibly until November, a fate that may also await the Omnia 2 (GT-i8000).

The 800mhz processor is pretty interesting. Anyone know if there is a phone which broke the 1ghz mark?

Also, on the Android vs WinMo note. Why would a beast of a phone run Android if nearly every phone enthusiast states that its better than WinMo? Because of market saturation. Android is still a baby even with Cupcake out. Ask your average run of the mill WinMo user what Android is and the general response would be “I’ve heard of it” and thats about it. Once Android takes off and controls a percentage of the market, then we’ll start seeing flagship phones running Cupcake or the like. Until that day though, we’ll be stuck with the G1’s and Dreams trying their best to show the world what Android is capable of.

The Louvre does look like a beast of a phone though.

This is what the storm 2 should have been. BlackBerry Os in my mind is a very stable Os. Maybe RIM will look at this and be like “we should have made the next Gen storm like this”. Lmfao

Also on a side not I don’t know why all the new BlackBerry’s share the same looks? Who does RIM hire to design phones? Damm I could do a much better design!

What is going to be a waste is a 16m colour display, when win mobile 6 can only output 65k.

    @Nelly

RIM phones look great, and more importantly, have incredible function within their design. There are things I’d encourage be different.. (extend-able boom mic, and maximizing the size of the LCD+keyboard to the physical device size).. but I would LOVE to run android on my Bold. Now THAT would be cool. Yeah.. BBM is good.. but its the only remaining OS feature I’d miss.

Yeah I think if the bb did not have bbm I would have been long gone. Also I don’t like windows mobile. Had a phone that ran it and well after two weeks I gave up. It seems to me bb is losing focus on what their main clientel is. Us business enterprise users. The new OS seems to have more memory leaks than before.

The technical specs say it all for this phone and then to have it running windows mobile 6.5 is just incredible. Does anyone know when this may be released in the US and which carrier will have this phone?
