I don’t care what they call this phone, this thing looks amazing! Wow… is all I can say. The technical specs are really incredible and the screen is huge and beautiful. This should really be awesome running windows mobile 6.5 and I can’t wait to see one in person.

Sprint,seriously, are you aware of the high end Samsung line up?

Enough with S60 type toys,please consider some high end features,i.e. matt finish vs smudge magnets,larger OMLED,higher resolution cameras, microsd, horizontal keyboard,
Tv out,3.5mm, 4G multi radio,phones!

Ignore these requests, and VZ or ATT will take away even more accounts!

im debating now over this phone or the TP2. the keyboard on the TP2 is spaced out better & has an amazing speaker but the AMOLED display n 5MP cam on this is pretty good. idk wat do U think is better????

@avremele, one of the other sites listed its’ current specs as a quad-band GSM.

@Fremen93 couldn’t agree with you more on your statement that “but the G1 is simply not a good enough piece of hardware for Android.” IMO, the G1 was a terrible choice to launch this OS on; strategically I think that TMO really shot themselves in the foot with the selection on the G1. I remember that the HTC Touch HD was released just 1 month before the G1 was officially unveiled. All my friends really hoped that the G1 would be something similar to the Touch HD or at least something along those lines; we were all really disappointed to see what TMO chose.

Look really close at the first pic and you will see a front facing camera that means that probally is a gsm and considering that there’s no video calling in the us i guess this is for europe

I agree. From my experience even the cheapest Samsungs have a better build quality than the most expensive HTC devices. Not a Sammy fanboy, no fan of any phone really. I dropped my old E-315 on the pavement numerous times but it never cracked or stopped working. Prolly can’t say that about G1 or Fuze… Samsung pays extreme attention to detail in design and build. Wish they’d stop making all those entry-level phones and release more like this one. (Just an opinion. Not trying to start a fire.)

Actually I don’t agree with the idea that if you liked Android then you’d buy a G1. Sorry, but the G1 is simply not a good enough piece of hardware for Android. The problem isn’t with Android, its with the stupid design of the phone. The keyboard is great except for that stupid bump on the right that gets in the way!! I can’t type on it very long without feeling serious hand cramping because of that stupid bump.
No, if they made something that resembled this Louvre, but with the Android OS, it would be something I’d buy in an instant.

Don’t know why people badmouth the G1. Isn’t it approaching outdated status? It was a great phone, I think.

I dunno about anyone else, but I get a new phone every year. The G1 has been a great phone for me, to try out Android (which I like, but am not addicted to)and also a non-BlackBerry smartphone (have used BBs since 2003).

There’s some things I don’t like about the G1 that I will be looking to remedy on my next annual replacement. (No 3.5mm audio port, size, battery life, form factor).

But I consider the G1 the FIRST of a long line of evolutionary steps; I expect HTC will eventually get with it on the 3.5 port, for example.

I like this Samsung’s specs and it may be a great replacement for my G1. But the G1 has me hooked on certain aspects of it, e.g., easy uploading to my YouTube account, easy BlackBerry” style checking of my g-mail (I have about 12 g-mail accounts) and easy use of Google search.

Since I use so many Google related products, I may be restricted to using Google handsets, so to speak. Will be interesting to see where Google goes with this concept. Will they stick with Android and HTC. Maybe not since they don’t have control over all aspects of each company.

In the meantime, I just sold my “outdated” Curve and Pearl 8120, so all is good. Wonder what I can get for my soon to be outdated G1.

Maybe I will toss it in my collectible electronics box, with some of my old Samsung SPH-i300 and Motorola then-hot Vader phones. LOL.

I digress on this Sunday morning. Beats church anyway.

this phone is now on the top of my list. it drops the storm 2, htc touch pro 2 and tour, lower. i’m a verizon user and all those phones were missing one key detail for me. the qwerty keyboard(storm 2). the 3.5mm headphone jack(htctp2). and wi-fi(tour). this phone has all three. and i could care less what os it’s running because i can get used to any. if this comes to verizon, then this looks like the winner so far.

Palm Pre proved that Apple’s model of development is the way to go (tight integration between hardware and software). Battery, heat dissipation and limited RAM make Android look like a generic also-run.
Please BGR could you please confirm the Louvre’s processor is not underclocked.

I would get an Android phone but I really don’t like the design of the G1. The G2 doesn’t have a full qwerty keyboard so that cuts it out of the picture. I just hope HTC releases their other Android phones soon….aka the Lancaster i think, it leaps and bounds better designed than the G1.

Well, if Android was that great everyone in the world would be running around with a G1. Has nothing to do with T-Mobile or the Design of the Phone, if you like the OS you Go buy a G1. But that isnt the case. Majority of The Sales where existing T-Mo subscribers who where tired of their sidekick and everyone else still has issues with it. Thats Why At&t Sprint Said last year that Android had alot of work to do before they released anything.

RIM & Windows mobile are proven on all carriers. Android isnt even on one.

I think this just made the Touch Pro 2 look weak.

I’m confused. Why can’t Android get top level handsets like this. Seems like both HTC and Samsung have no respect for the platform.
