Didn’t pre-order an iPhone 3G S? You might have to wait about two weeks
We got a tip from one of our most-trusty ninjas earlier this morning about this, but we’ve now also got a screenshot from someone else, too. To make a long story short, if you did not pre-order an iPhone 3G S from AT&T yet, (we’re not talking about Apple because we don’t have information on their pre-ordering/stock levels, etc) your iPhone 3G S won’t be shipping to you/your store until “7-14 days” after the order date. It seems that all AT&T’s pre-order stock is depleted leaving only iPhone 3G Ss for dying-in-line purchasing on this coming Friday, and all pre-orders going forward won’t be fulfilled until after the June 19th launch date.

So, is there a delay for the iphones that have been pre-purchased and will be shipped to the customer as opposed to the ones being pre-ordered to pick up at the store?

the delay is for both those that are having it shipped and those who are picking it up…shipped will be a week later and those that want to pick it up will have a better chance of waiting in line to get one

F’ing AT&T…I went in last TUESDAY to pre-order. I am within my 30 days to exchange, so I thought all was fine and dandy. Was told that there was “absolutely no way” I could exchange my (soon-to-be) 14 day old 3G for a 3GS, MUCH LESS pre-order one. I had to go out of town for 3 days, finally called AT&T Corporate today. They told me that of COURSE I could pre-order, and surely I had misunderstood the drone at the store. They actually called the store and talked to the person, and, upon discovering what he had told me, read him the riot act. Suddenly “right this way, sir!” he was more than happy to let me pre-order. Of course, now I’m in the 7-14 day window. THanks, you worthless bunch of @sshats. Since I am within my 30 days, I might just go back to T-Mobile. I may not have 3G or iPhones (at least “officially”), but at least they’re not all retards.
I ordered mine about 7 hours ago on ATT’s site and received an email stating, “We estimate your order will be shipped within 2 – 5 business days pending approval if applicable. We will notify you by email when it is approved and shipped.”
Are other people who have ordered today also getting this message?
Walmart will be getting them in most stores on Fri. No preorders but since it’s fairly unknown you’ll probably be able to walk in Friday morning and get one.
I would upgrade from 8gb 3G but will wait a while longer. I tried to pre-order the 32gb and will need to pay $499, or wait until May of next year. I think I’ll wait, and until will stick to the 3.0 OS update coming next Wed.
I order two phones with a new service plan thursday night (2 32GB 3GS) through the ATT premier site because I get a discount through my company. I haven’t received a confirmation yet other than “we have received your order, and expect to begin processing it soon”.
What does that mean? Will I have to wait?
Did anyone here watch the WWDC on iTunes? I was loading some new songs on to my 16gb non activated Jailbroken iPhone, and decided to watch the WWDC video.
I was watching and at first didn’t take notice. I swore I heard the audience laughing so I went back and what I took from it after watching it again was Apples staff poking fun, or if you’d like, dissing AT&T’s network. The was the audience reacting to the comments made by Apples staff.
This phone may actually be on VZ’s network sooner then some believe. Though I personally believe this phone won’t be on VZ till LTE.
There will not be near the herds of wanters like it was when the original iPhone came out. The only panic to buy come from within the flock!

AT&T is not the only place that sell iphone 3G anymore…
I will just go somewhere else.

The compass has more functionality than that! It will show you what direction that you are facing in google maps and Tom Tom gps. And I know this is going to add a whole lot of value to a multitude of application developers out there. You just watch.
I just reserved mine this morning to pick up at the apple store. maybe its just att that is out.
I literally just pre-ordered mine via Apple. They sent me an email saying it’ll be ready for pickup on Friday at my local Apple Store.
Reserved is not really reserved via pple online. It’s still first come first serve at the Apple store. You need to read the fine print on the pre-order screens, at the bottom it states that pre-ordering does not guarantee availability. Which is no surprise since they do not ask for any credit info.
Best Buy charges for a reserve price, but I did get 2 50 dollar gift cards so that was kinda nice, it won’t help the price of the phone any but selling my 1st gen for 150 (I could get more on ebay but I told my coworker that I would sell to him, and this way I don’t have to pay ebay fees or paypal fees)
