SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited wireless services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP), today announced the immediate availability of the Motorola Evoke™ QA4 to Cricket customers. The feature-packed 2.8 inch full touch-screen device keeps users constantly connected to friends and family via texting with both a full touch-screen keyboard and slide out traditional numeric keypad. Web info is displayed on the home screen, which can be customized using integrated widget and personalized RSS feeds. Evoke also features a full HTML browser – all over Cricket’s 3G EVDO network.

“When our customers ask us for a “smartphone” what they really want is access to personal email, fast Web browsing, great multimedia features and a cool phone form factor. Cricket has worked closely with Motorola to deliver the Evoke and the recently launched Motorola Hint QA30 devices that fit the desires of our customers but at a much more affordable price and no expensive service contract,” said Jeff Toig, vice president of product marketing for Cricket. “In addition, Cricket’s 3G EVDO network allows our customers to take full advantage of Evoke’s many capabilities and features.”

“We designed the Motorola Evoke to give consumers multiple ways to stay in touch, whether they prefer IM-style texting, mobile blogging or simply a phone call to keep up with friends and family,” said Dan Papalia, vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices. “With Cricket’s 3G network, customers can get instant gratification with real Web browsing, RSS feeds, one-click social networking and more.”

Evoke is highly customizable with widgets to provide real-time access to the information that is most important to users, such as Google Web Search™, MySpace, YouTube™, Picasa™, weather forecasts and customizable RSS feeds. Additional features include an integrated music player and microSD card slot with removable memory for music, stereo Bluetooth®, preloaded BREW games, voice activated dialing and more.

now, for those of you who are tou tuo Tour obsessed, (including myself) there is news today. is it possible BG? it instantly took me back to the CNBC report a while ago. if its true it gives ‘prototype’ a new ground-breaking definition.

    JoeTour says:

    @ grr
i doubt the whole report. first of all they have the number wrong, they call it the 9030, instead of our 9630. while its possible that a 9030 is going to debut one day, the Tour is the 9630.
and add the fact that people are beta-testing it as we speak, without a touchscreen.
but then again, 9630 sounds like a successor to the 9530, or at least in the same catagory, family. that would point to a touch screen.
so much for a ‘prototype’, boys.

This phone is also available at nTelos wireless, for VA, WVA customers… no MMS is somewhat of a dealbreaker but for those who do not use MMS it is a great phone… oh that pic is way oversized, unless the person holding the phone has baby hands… LOL for those wanting info on the nTelos Evoke including pricing check out this link http://nteloswireless.com/phones/motorola/motoevoke.php

Moto tried… they did… but when you build a phone with a built in G Sensor atleast make it so that you can tilt the phone left AND right without it showing an upside down screen. Yes, it really will show an upside down screen if tilted the wrong direction. But they tried right?

    evoke'd it says:

I MMS all the time with my Evoke. I just use the email to MMS gateways. Same as I did with my MotoQ with Sprint. No longer am I taken by my service provider and charged for MMS. I just stick it to them by sending everything via Email. Then they can’t restrict the size of my files.
