I think it’s fine. I personally don’t care what my phone looks like as long as it’s screen is not scratched up. I’m more concerned about what it can do more than what it looks like. I think a large majority use a case anyways. I’m sure everyone that complained, will look at their phone, and say nice case. LOL. Apple are smart fu ckers. I’ll never leave because of all these apps I’ve bought. Haha. What would I do without it wunder radio and my 10 pages of apps.

Check my name for spelling, please, and don’t be disrespectful. Now on the surface, your theory sounds good. But consider this. Outside the US, the iPhone is the top or second best selling device NOWHERE, at least no major market.

The reason is twofold. One, consumers in Europe, Africa, and Asia have been using predominantly smartphones for many years. They have grown with multitasking, media friendly, highly capable, multifunctioning devices. In contrast, The US is barely catching onto this trend. In fact, until about a year to 18 months ago, America’s number one phone was the Motorola Razr! So our level of consumer sophistication and the expectations of our devices is much lower. Its what the carriers want. Its common to hear Americans say, “Oh, I don’t need that on my phone, just as long as I can text and call…”, as we allow carriers to overcharge us high prices for inferior products. While $299 will get you a new iPhone, in the UK, for instance, it’ll get you basically any device you want.
There are many markets where the iPhone competes head up with the Nokias, Samsungs and HTCs of the world. Where people have the choice, they choose to avoid the iPhone. Its a matter of subsidy, and no device is as heavily subsidized as is the iPhone, all by carrier choice. Were the N97, identically priced, get the same rebate, at $199-$299 with all the TV ads to boot, and the iPhone had on subsidy and was $699, it’d be everyone loving the N97 in America, and laughing at the iPhone.

@ ChristieXaport once again you through a company with multiple phones on multiple carriers in every country its in against a phone that is carried by one carrier in most countries its in. Logic tells you that if iPhone was easily and readily available like every other phone be it rim, symbian or Win Mo the iPhone would dominate. Just imagine if it was available on all carriers just here in America! Please dont bring your bias here ok symbian freak

the NEW iphone 3GS has 600 MHZ processor and 256MB RAM, and an upgraded graphic chip.the old iphone 3G has 412 MHZ and 128MB ram, This is a big difference in terms of performance I think Apple should have done a slight different cosmetic change just to make it look a bit different than the 3G because the guts of the 3GS are much better and different than the 3G

iPhone will continue to sell and begin to take more and more of the market share. It doesn’t matter how much of a waste you think it is, or how it’s not worth the price.

1. It’s now $99, that’s just a price point that is appealing. You should the look on a customer’s face when you say, the iPhone is only $99 today, the customer’s face light’s up “really??”, “I’ll take one”. 8 times out of 10. I don’t even work for AT&T, but I’ve watched it happen.

2. Whether you like the phone or not, it’s really easy to use, my grandparents can even use it, try and blackberry or windows mobile, and things are hidden. The software is just so easy to access.

3. The new $200 and $300 price points are also appealing.

It doesn’t matter that the update was lackluster, or that the phone isn’t as powerful or productive as other phones. It’s to each his own, and the iPhone still appeals to many. Whether you like it or not, the iPhone will continue to take market share. Just watch and see.

You won’t be disappointed. I use the Bold as my business phone and, while it’s an awesome device (the only Blackberry I will touch), I always glare longingly at my coworkers with iPhones all playing online Texas Hold ‘Em together during downtime.

He’s not in the minority. Its time America admits that RIM has a bigger marketshare than Apple. The hype machine seems to say otherwise, but sales prove the truth. I doubt a non multitasking phone OS will ever outsell a real smartphone OS. I’m guessing this GS won’t be quite as popular, and Apple will alter its stance on multitasking and form factor.

As an avid Smartphone user and tester, I have numerous BlackBerry devices, an iPhone and a G1. I tend to rotate between them all because I don’t like the idea of having one and not using it, but I find that I always come back to my BlackBerry and end up using it 80% of the time, with the other devices getting about 10% usage per device.

This is so amazing! The unboxing of the holy 3G S. I think viewing those pictures have enlightened me so much, that nothing, short of seeing his Lordship El Jobso would top it. The bezel pops up a little bit on the box! I’m gonna need some tissues.

I’d be willing to wager that most iPhone users buy it for the cool factor. I’m not talking about those who belong the Apple cults or the hardcore nerds who are only interested on what’s on the inside.

Consumers are sheep. If it looks good and makes them feel good, they’ll buy into it.

I see it all over Facebook and Twitter. People say the iPhone fits their personality and “looks cool.”

First let me say I’m with Verizon. And I never bash other phones or carriers but will give an honest opinion.

I think people keep bashing the iPhone because

1. Its on AT&T and the majority of people I talked to say the service sucks and they wish it was on Verizon for better call quality.

2. They are just catching up to some other basic phones which is unacceptable for a top notch seller.

3. This is personally from me. You can’t put insurance on it. I’m really big about this. If this came to Verizon and you still couldn’t put insurance on it, I’d probably be the only one on Verizon without the iPhone because I think thats just the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard of. I don’t have another $500 $600 if someone steals it or it break to buy another. And if with the amount of sales they have for the iPhone they could at least require a higher deductible or something!

4. If your a phone fanatic like me you like like to have a new phone every year. The iPhone is a bit boring now in my opinion. The design is nice but they should do something else with the design. I don’t think its wise to make the phone look exactly the same with minor tweaks year after year. The whole fun in getting a new phone is a completely different look and feature combined.

5. I think the ONLY thing iPhone has on phones now a days are the App Store, Hype, and Looks. There are phones out with faster processor, great looks, qwerty key board, Higher resolution screen, better camera and the list goes. And I might add the OS is very nice and sleek, but others are catching up quickly.

But for these reasons I get everything I want out of the iPhone and skip all the stuff I don’t like about it with my iPod touch.

Master Mason, I have reservations about a a 4G iPhone that will essentially be for one carrier, no other carrier has hinted they will have 4G next year besides vzw and at the same time it’ll only be data so whatever LTE devices will have to be hybrid CDMA. Granted the same can be said of WiMax but that platform isn’t pinning for the phone, it’ll be for the next gen. Pre. Some guy is starting a rumor that vzw is getting some Apple products, just not the iPhone, next year

This is a possibility for PALM and the pre! They have a very competitive phone!! The only problem is it will be short lived, When iPhone V4 comes out on LTE and probably on multiple US Carriers from what I am hearing, it will mulititask and have a bunch of new surprises. So 2010 will be like iPhone year one all over again!

It amazes me that my Pre can run just as smoothly and as fast as my last iPhone did and that’s on the Pre’s 1.x OS build. Oh and its browser runs quicker than the iPhone did over WiFi. I can just imagine what future OS upgrades will do. I’m just glad the iPhone reign as king of usability is over. Even if the Pre don’t sell more units (which I’m sure it won’t) it still is the first entry into the smartphone world that gives the iPhone a real major run for its money.

The whole point that you imbeciles cant grasp is the iphone has 10.7 market share with one device!!!! Symbian, win mo , BB have multiple devices all over the world with multiple price ranges and been established for years. ONE PHONE showed up and in a matter of a few years took almost 11 % of the market and on limited carriers. Example HTC touch pro 2 available on every US carrier, the iPhone ONLY AT%T. I use the American market because it is one of the biggest!! If iPhone was lets say on even just 2 networks here like VZW and AT&T that market share would almost double imagine if all four had it? PS I dont wanna here you VZW sycophants saying that if the iPhone was available to you you would still chose storm or tour!! That’s laughable at best. The only reason you all tout these devices now is because you can’t have THE iPhone!

Now let’s talk marketshare when Nokia releases 6 more touchscreen devices in the next 6 months, and expect an N97 upgrade with more storage, memory and possibly a better screen, as they did with the N95 8gb. Apple won’t go much higher than 14% marketshare with all of the competition, and that’s assuming that Nokia doesn’t get a carrier partner for the N97, 5800 XM, N86 and the subsequent touchscreen devices coming out.
Apple better worry about the Sony Ericsson Satio, too. They have competition in the US even without Nokia…
