I was really hoping to use a fob with the HTC Touch Pro 2, however doesn’t sound like it works. Having a great phone, that’s easy to email on, is far more important that using it as a supra key. I could always go back to the old way. Wish GE would wise up and make Lock-boxes blue-tooth capable. We’d all be happy!

I have been looking at this phone as an alternative to a blackberry as I like touch and I have tmobile so there are no other phones with email options and touch. I can’t seem to get this phone to switch to a horizontal touch screen. The touch only works in the vertical mode unless you open the keyboard and that defeats the purpose of a tocuh screen. Does anyone know how to do this as I don’t want to spend $350 for a phone that will revert to keyboard when in the horizontal position. Is this a huge flaw or am I just unable to figure it out? Thanks.

Got mine last week and I love it!!! It’s the AT&T Tilt2 version and it is very sweeeeeet! It’s running WM 6.5 and there are a lot of improvements there with the screens and the browser. Microsoft could still do a lot better but they’re finally starting to make real progress. I can’t wait to see WM 7.

Finally, a WM phone that can hold it’s own against an iPhone. I love it!!!

I just purchased this phone and so far I love it! But I do have one annoyance and would like to know if anyone is experiencing the same. My Carrier is through Sprint which has excellent navigation software. However, I was only able to get the navigation software to detect my position one time and I get a message that the GPS signal is weak. But yet Google Maps follows my position at all times! What gives? I’m assuming Google Maps is triangulating my position through cell towers because I know Navigation uses satellites. And if the signal is too weak for Navigation, then it should be too weak for Google Maps as well. Right? And if true, then what’s up with the internal GPS antenna? It doesn’t matter where I am when I try to get my location, it just doesn’t work. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

seems that Sprint is giving AT&T a run for their money this year. first the pre, then 2 new versions of the instinct, now tp2.
sprint’s comes with 3.5mm jack, which is great, 4gb card, screen protector, extra stylus.
All reviews seem to be great so I am taking the plunge. I have used a motorola q9c the last 2 years and have only had to hard reset my phone once. I can watch movies on hulu through skyfire without buffering and listen to pandora with no problem.
Why does everyone hate winmo so much? 6.1 fixed every problem I had with 6.0.

Supra’s stupidity is the problem, not the phone. I am definitely keeping the Touch Pro2, since the Supra keyfob defeats the entire purpose of carring one device anyway. Oh well, I have to carry around a DisplyKey, but Supra is idiotic for adopting the dying IR technology to begin with. Surpra should have made the iBox bluetooth from the beginning, and skipped IR all together. Most smartphone manufacturers were already taking IR out of devices when Supra was converting to the iBox. Hopefully they’ll get the picture in the next decade or so.

This phone is NOT compatible with GE/Supra’s ekey software, even with the bluetooth adaptor. I think I may keep it anyway as I love the phone. I do hate the idea of having to carry around the Displaykey, but I do not want a crappy older phone.

Texting does not drain much battery life, so I think Lili Boo should be OK if that is mainly what they are doing. It is push email and web browsing that kill the battery life. There is a 3000 and 4500 mah battery out too if you are OK with a bigger phone(stock is 1500 mah). The stock battery does not make it through the day for me, but I have push email on and browse the web a lot. I wish it were better, but I guess it takes some juice to power that big sceen. At least we can swap batteries, unlike the iPhone….

Just picked up my T-mobile TouchPro 2. I have to say it’s impressive! I have fat fingers and the screen is more responsive than the TouchPro and is much easier to move navigate around. In addition, the unit is GPS! Works great with Google mobile maps.

Good In-depth article.
I have one quetion related to security. Can I dessignate certain area within phone internal memory or external card, where I can keep sensitive information and that’s password protected (e.g. a file with bank account details) or some contacts/notes in password protected area (this feature used to come in earlier Palm products). I don’t want to keep a password on the phone as a whole, as it is a hassle to type the password every time, I have to use it.
Also how dooes security work if I use an external microSD 8GB card ( I am assuming that such a card would work with this phone)? In case, I loose my phone, Can somebody just read all the data on the card or is there a way to secure it?

@ gd761: I think the only ones claiming that this will be upgradeable to WM7 are those that don’t know what they’re talking about. Of course, you will be able to upgrade via custom ROM, but aside from that, I don’t believe there has been any official announcement from HTC or any carrier. Based on recent launch timeframes, the next round of HTC device launches will occur only 4-5 months after WM7’s release.

I would like to know one thing. I have seen in many places about the specs, that the TP2 will have WM7. Right now the only one that is stock is WM6.1 . From all the info on all the posts and web sites, WM7 won’t officially be out until April 2010. The TP2 will be coming to Sprint Sept 3, 2009. That’s a difference of 7 months. This is something that I’m sure everyone would like the answer to.

@ V: No, this phone will not have IR, and as far as I know, IR won’t be available on any smartphone in the future. Literally. That technology is dead to manufacturers.

Therefore, Supra was idiotic (as usual) for going to IR, rather than just going straight to Bluetooth. This is why Supra has introduced the keyfob, which in my opinion completely defeats the purpose of only carrying one device.

I was at a T-Mobile store this morning and the girl that works there had the Touch Pro 2 for T-Mobile. Sweet looking phone. About the same size and weight of the original Tilt from AT&T. (It tilts also). Super responsive. I am an AT&T customer and was in there asking about the My Touch 3G and she also had one. She asked if I was an Android fan or win Mo fan. I asked why she asked and she then pulled the TP2 out. She said it will go on sale the same date as the M Touch 3g in stores August 12. Sorry if this is old news. I didn’t read all the post and have not read up on te latest updates for this phone. I had the AT&T Fuze and replaced it with a Samsung Eternity, (it’s ok, but I miss my AT&T Fuze.). Oh well. Anyone know if AT&T wil get the TP2?

Sort of has the same brownish color of the HTC shadow (1st shadow not 2nd). I took two pics of it but don’t know if I can upload them here.

well, late 3rd quarter would be fine with me, considering there are only like 10 weeks left in 3rd quarter.

I just want to see more leaked internal info, other than the roadmap we saw months ago.
