Casio EXILIM and Motorola Rival touch down at Verizon

Right on cue according to our scoop, Verizon launched two new devices today in the Motorola Rival A455 and the Casio EXILIM C721. The Rival is a pretty standard messaging device that has a full QWERTY keypad, a 2 megapixel and a 2-year contract price of $99 after a $50 MIR. Have at it, tweens. The EXILIM on the other hand, which goes for $279.99 after rebates on a 2-year deal, features a 2.3-inch pivoting QVGA display, 5.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and 3x optical zoom, GPS and all of the standard Verizon apps that you would expect. Oh, and it also meets Military Specifications 810F standards making is dust and water resistant. So what say you, people — do either of these devices strike your fancy or are you waiting for something bigger and better to come along?

Tuh tuh Tour leaks pretty please!
Tour leaks pretty please!
as our friend Grrrr would obviously say, yeah were waiting for the tuh tuh tuh Tour. not even a 20 MP camera phone would satisfy Tour-Nation.
but its certainly a very decent addition to Vz’s lineup. good.
sigh… i’m getting tired of seeing all these phones land everywhere except tmobile… soon unlimited minutes/data/texting for 70 a month wont be worth sticking around anymore….
Neither of these are interesting enough to get me to renew my Verizon contract. Still waiting for more Calgary info, personally. Or a Dare update, which brings the total number of people waiting for a Dare update to 3 or something.
tour please
This looks like a POS.
The Rival looks kind of nice but $280 for a dumbphone, jeez
yay, my words were spoken for me. TOUR!?!
Screw Tour…. More Storm2…..
For having by far the best coverage reach throughout the nation, you would think that Verizon would put just a little more effort into their headsets. I went in to upgrade last week, and was so turned off by their selection that I’ve decided I’m going to wait for this contract to expire. THAT IS RIDICULOUS, ESPECIALLY THESE DAYS.
No consumer should ever leave their wireless company because of phone selection, not with all the amzing new phones hitting the market. STEP YOUR GAME UP VERIZON, or you’re going to see more and more people leaving to go sign a contract that doesn’t lock them in for 2 years, and doesn’t require them to use a handset that looks and feels like it was made for a text messaging tween.
Guess I just expect too much from the nation’s largest wireless company…
Shouldn’t be a problem anymore- especially after my contract expires.
Rival does look nice…not a bad tool for wanting to get away from the work phone and able to do some texting in a crunch. If these phones would only allow you to download Opera…
Atlas?
just any new bb info besides a pearl variant, please….
Is Verizon serious? $279 for a 5 MP camera phone?! I can’t even begin to understand their reasoning.
Pricing comes from subsidizing. If they order a billion you get the phone cheaper…economics 101
What’s up with the VZW iPhone or Apple tablet?
@Laz
lol Have you not been on here in the past couple of days? Let me give you a hint… WWDC? lol No VZW iPhone this year, maybe next year

As many have already said before me… c’mon VZW, what about the tuh tuh TOUR?!?
@ kidd
To bad more people are switching to Verizon and leaving other networks. You will see how horrible other networks are. You will come runningback to Verizon like lots did.
If kid comes to Sprint that money saved along with the great network, all inclusive plans, no crippled phones and a great network. GSM has great phones but the network doesn’t back it up, they need WiFi to help with data with no help on voice
I just got the Rival and the phone is awesome! I love it because texting is great and all of the features rock I love my first phone!
da tour is gay!!!!
Tooooooooouuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrr!!!
F verizon’s selection. My brother will be jumping on the iPhone train next weekend, and if it checks out ok w/ AT&T spotty service around here, then I’ll follow suit. I’m just one of Verizon’s many customers who are out of contract and riding along, wishing they’d get a decent non-WM phone; w/o hope apparently. I’ll be gone soon.
